dancing here in the Philippines. I want
you to identify what street dance it is.
Ms. Mercado: Sir, I think that is Ati-atihan
What is this street dance? in province of Aklan.

Very good, Ms. Mercado!

Mr. Antonio: Sir, I believe this is Sinulog


street dancing in Cebu.

Very well said, Mr. Antonio!

How about this picture?

Ms. Tejada: Sir, it is a Masskara street


dancing. We can see this in Bacolod.

Mr. Alday: Sir, I think it portraying the


Obando street dancing in Bulacan.

Now, we are tackle about some of the


street dancing like Ati-atihan, Sinulog,
Masskara, and Obando Fertility Rites.

“Emerging Community Through Street


Dancing”

1. Ati-atihan
The festival is celebrated in Kalibo, Aklan
in honor of Sto. Nino in January. “To be
like atis.” The Atis are the earliest
immigrants of Panay Island where Aklan
is located.

2. Sinulog
Another Festival honoring Sto. Nino
celebrated in Cebu on the third weekend
of January. “Pit Senior” is the chant
known being spoken by the performers.
3. MassKara
Is a festival dance from Bacolod that
represents the love for fun and
cheerfulness of the Bacolodenos. It
started when the sugarcane industry
experienced low sales and a vessel
carrying many Negresense sank which
took 700 lives.

4. Obando Fertility Rites


Mr. Alvarez: Yes, Sir!
Famous festival in Bulacan. It is a Three-
day celebration every month of May. It is
a fertility dance wherein couples asking
for a child participate in a prayer-dancing
because they believed that doing such
will grant their wishes.

book with the title “I Know.” Identifying
and comparing the festivals.

Then, open your book on page 412,


answer “I Accomplish.” Cut and paste a
picture of street dancing, the explain. Mr. Caballes: Noed po, Sir!
For your Performance Task! Ms. Marasigan: Nothing, Sir!
Make a dance routine with a time of 3
minutes. The dance routine will be a
