3. Two blocks having mass 6 kg and 5 kg are placed on a rough surface. Both the blocks are
connected by a light string as shown in figure. String is vibrating in fundamental mode and
resonating with the tunning fork of natural frequency 100 Hz. The coefficient of friction
between both the blocks and surface is  = 0.5. A force F = 30 N is applied on 5 kg block as
shown in the figure. Find the frictional force which is acting on 6 kg and 5 kg blocks. Length
of the string is 50 cm and mass per unit length of string is M = 1 g / m. [2]

4. In the given connection as shown in the figure.


Ammeter reading is 3A, R = 3, reactance of

5. In certain experiment it has been found that the ratio of the decay current in a L - R circuit to
the activity of a radioactive sample remains constant with time. The time constant of L – R
circuit is 0.4 sec, find the average life of radioactive sample. [2]

10. A rough wedge is given a leftward horizontal acceleration

11. A disk of mass 2M and radius R is placed on 2M

14. A spherical shell placed in an open atmosphere has initial temperature 2.2T0 (T0 is

temperature of atmosphere) and shell is radiating a wavelength 1 (= m)

inside the spherical shell is giving it a constant power P0 = 0.4s T04 (where , s and 
represents Stefan’s constant, surface area and emissivity of material of shell). When the
shell attains the steady state, the wavelength of radiation corresponding to maximum
intensity, falls over hydrogen like atom , and gets ionised (assuming the electron is ejected
from ground state). Find atomic number Z for the atom. (Assume that temperature
difference is very small in comparison to T0) [4]

15. A cabin is falling freely and inside the cabin a disc of


radius r is made to undergo pure rolling with constant
angular velocity by some external agent. A particle of
negligible mass leaves the disc tangentially from point P
with respect to the disc such that line OP (O is centre of r

16. There is a rectangular frame on which two semicircular rings each


having mass m are connected such that its ends can slip on the
sides of the frame. Initially both the rings are connected by a
unstretched spring of natural length 0 and of spring constant k are
touching each other to form a circle. There is thin film (surface
tension T) between the semi circular rings and frame as shown in
figure.
(a) Find the elongation of spring in the equilibrium position of rings.
(b) Find the period of the subsequent SHM. [4]
[Assume that spring is passing though centre of the circle and
whole system is placed on a smooth horizontal plane.]

17. In a cylindrical region of Radius R, there exists a time varying

18. Two cubical blocks of same material and of side a and 2a are a
fixed symmetrically as shown in the figure. It is floating in the
water in such a way that the upper surface of bigger block is
just submerged in the water. Find the time period of small
oscillations if it is displaced by a small distance x in vertical
