Film Analysis - The Nativity Story
The Nativity Story is a wonderful biblical film focused on the birth of Jesus Christ.
Roman culture was regarded as a representation of a golden age when humanity lived in peace
and nature was in balance at the time. The Massacre of the Innocents, on the other hand, took
place in the Roman province of Judea. The ancient prophecy regarding the birth of the Messiah
for the Jewish people terrified King Herod. He ordered all male children under the age of two to
be slaughtered by the Jewish authorities in Bethlehem. Meanwhile, the ox was used to represent
the Jews. The shepherds were despised by the Jews. The holy family traveled to Bethlehem and
Mary gave birth to Jesus, they went to Egypt for escape, and returned and resided in Nazareth.
King Herod has imposed enormous taxes on the poor inhabitants of Nazareth, and they are
groaning and sweating to pay them. The holy family in Bethlehem moved to Egypt, followed the
birth, settled in Nazareth, and journeyed to Bethlehem for the birth and returned to Nazareth. The
poor people of Nazareth are agonizing and sweating to pay the heavy taxes imposed by King
Herod. Moreover, the poor households that are unable to pay have their animals and land taken
away. The very worst event is that their daughters are kidnapped and sold as slaves.
The Christian group and early Christian communities, as well as Judaism, are depicted in
the film. Because the Nativity story is about the birth of Jesus Christ and the Christian depicts the
newborn Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary during the Roman Empire. The Presentation of
Jesus in the Temple in Jerusalem where Jesus is presented at the Temple in which the Jews
adhere to the temple tenaciously. The feast of Pentecost was a significant Jewish harvest festival,
during which Jews will travel to Jerusalem to feast in the city. Shavuot was also traditionally and
ritually observed by Jews as a tribute to their fresh harvest. According to Jewish tradition, the
first-born son should be circumcised after eight days and then given in the temple as a sign of
redemption and an offering to God. Furthermore, the angels and shepherds were the first to hear
and discover the Messiah's birth. The shepherds were told by the angel about the savior of the
earth who had been born, Jesus. The star serves as a special sign and way for the magis to find
newborn Jesus. It leads them to Jesus’ birthplace and after reaching out where Jesus is, they
worship him and give him three gifts, gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
After watching the film, I didn't notice much of any discontinuity within the film since all
of the aspects of the film are consistent. It is just that the quality of the movie is low. Overall, it
features excellent plot flow.
Today, in the modern world, the magis or the wise men, Josephs, and Marys are our
parents. They are the one who sacrifice almost all just for us to have a shelter to live, food to eat,
and clothes to wear. They make sure that we live comfortably as long as they can. They share
their knowledge and wisdom with us. They make sure we live and fear God. They taught us to be
kind and to have a giving-hands. God will always be my shepherd. He has been there to protect
me all the time. He has been and will always be my light in my darkness days and nights. He is
my shield from all the harm. The Herods are cruel people. They’re the manipulative ones just for
the sake of their own satisfaction. I cannot just tell someone as Herod but for sure they have a
special place in hell.
In my opinion, when the Magi visited Herod and disclosed to him that the Messiah is still
a child and that he will be the king of the Jews "for the lowest men to the highest of King."
because King Herod was deeply disturb and called his people to search for Jesus.
