    This standard includes safety requirements within the meaning of the EU Machinery Directive (98/37/EEC).

    National foreword
    This standard has been published in accordance with a decision taken by CEN/TC 114 to adopt, without
    alteration, International Standard ISO 14122-1 as a European Standard.
    The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Maschinenbau (Me-
    chanical Engineering Standards Committee), Technical Committee Sicherheit von Arbeitsbühnen und Zu-
    gängen.

    Amendments
    DIN 31003, February 1981 edition, has been superseded by the specifications of EN ISO 14122-1, which is
    identical to ISO 14122-1.
