    Narrative Report on Brigada Eskwela 2020-2021

    Education is fundamentally a valuable asset for humans. Education means to know


    various things and explores the world of their knowledge. It is one of the primary factors in
    one’s life that helps them to face most of the challenges. Education is the primary tool for the
    success of the parallel world which reveals the importance of education in itself. As observed
    education helps in the finishing of one’s character, discipline, curiosity, knowledge and right
    livelihood. Education is the reason that educated people (social reformers, religious man,
    humanistic philosophers, scientists, writers, and the like.) are known as the prestigious faces
    of the society.

    But at this moment Education is going through a tough battle amidst the so called
    COVID 19 or the Corona Virus Disease 2019. As the result of many survey say we are living
    amidst what is potentially one of the greatest threats in our lifetime to global education, a
    gigantic educational crisis. As of March 28, 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic is causing more
    than 1.6 billion children and youth to be out of school in 161 countries. This is close to 80%
    of the world’s enrolled students. We were already experiencing a global leaning crisis, as
    many students were in school, but were not learning the fundamental skills needed for life.
    Thus, the state together with the educators, educational institutions, as well as the parents
    need to work hand in hand to bridge the gap caused by the pandemic.

    Our country is doing its part to come up with a program suitable to the present
    situation in terms of education through the Department of Education (DepEd) as the agency
    tasked to carry the responsibility. Looking at the present situation of the country caused by

    the pandemic the DepEd officials led by Secretary Leonor Briones brain stormed and came
    up with different modes of learning to be used as the present. Thus, resulted with the
    launching of Enrollment last June 1, 2020 as per DepEd Order 008 s. 2020 in accordance
    with the guidelines given by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging
    Infectious Diseases to follow the different precautionary measures.

    With this San Roque Elementary School through the leadership of its accountable
    School Head Sir Jerwin S. Galang, Phd with the coordination of the 16 hardworking teachers
    joined hand in hand with the program of the department in providing quality education for the
    Filipino children amidst the crisis. The remote enrollment from June 1 – 15, 2020 was strictly
    followed. With this the enrollment was done through text messaging, phone calls as well as
    chat. To ensure the safety of the children, parents, and the teachers as well. For the third
    week of the month meaning from June 16-30, 2020 the remote enrollment will be conducted
    continuously. In lined with the guidelines given by the IATF San Roque Elementary School
    followed the mandated procedure of enrollment as given by the Central Office. The school
    tapped the support of the local government unit to coordinate with the barangay officials with
    the enrollment procedures. Drop boxes and kiosk were set up at the barangay hall where the
    Learner Enrollment Survey Form (LESF) will be picked up and dropped off by the parents
    and guardians upon accomplishment. Parents and guardians were informed with the general
    instructions to be followed before heading to the said kiosks through chat, text, call, online,
    social media and public announcements with the help of the local government. Drop box
    kiosks will only cater to those parents who do not have online access to communicate with
    their school but wish to enroll their child/children. Only one adult from a household with
    quarantine pass will be allowed to go to these kiosks. Parents and guardians needing
    assistance are advised to ask their respective barangay leadership in this transaction.

    Parents and guardians must be familiar with the advisory of the school or barangay on
    designated pick up and submission points before going out. Infographics were created by the
    school through the ICT teacher and Brigada chairperson. These infographics were posted on
    the school’s social media page and by the respective teachers as well. The said infographics
    aimed to foster public awareness on the importance of education as well as the needs of the
    school at this crucial time. The teachers informed and campaigned school year 2020-2021
    through chat, call, text and online. Videos shared by teachers from which aim to make the
    parents and guardians aware on the process of enrollment following the safety precautions to
    avoid the spread of the virus were also shared online. San Roque Elementary School knew
    how challenging the school year ahead is thus it maintains its commitment of ensuring the
    safety of our learners, teachers, and parents at this difficult time.

    The mission of all education systems is the same. It is to overcome the learning crisis
    we were already living and respond to the pandemic we are all facing. The challenge today is

    to reduce as much as possible the negative impact this pandemic will have on learning and
    schooling and build on this experience to get back on a path of faster improvement in
    learning. As education systems cope with this crisis, they must also be thinking of how they
    can recover stronger, with a renewed sense of responsibility of all factors and with a better
    understanding and sense of urgency of the need to close the gap in opportunities and assuring
    that all children have the same chances for a quality education.
