Removal
Remove the battery cover

Disconnect the battery earth cable


Remove the ignition coils
Remove the front wheels
Remove the engine lower cover
Remove the splash guards
Remove the crankshaft position sensor
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Disconnect the air-conditioning compressor and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the hose(s)
Remove the coolant expansion tank and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the fluid lines
Remove the dipstick
Remove the cylinder head cover
Remove the access plug
Fit the crankshaft TDC locking pin (303-507)
Timing chain: removal/installation
Removal
Fit the crankshaft TDC locking pin (303-507)
Remove the battery cover

Turn the crankshaft clockwise


Turn the crankshaft to TDC for cylinder 1
Turn the crankshaft until it touches the TDC locking pin (303-507)
Remove the crankshaft pulley
Use the special tools (49 B011 105, 205 - 072 )
Disconnect the battery earth cable
Remove the ignition coils
Remove the front wheels
Remove the engine lower cover
Remove the splash guards
Remove the crankshaft position sensor
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Disconnect the air-conditioning compressor and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the hose(s)
Remove the coolant

Fit the dipstick
the special tool to support the engine (49 C017 5A0)

Remove the engine head cover

Remove the access plug

Remove the battery cover

Remove the stud bolts


Remove the timing chain cover
Remove the crankshaft oil seal and discard
Unlock the tensioner
Disconnect the battery earth cable
Use a screwdriver
Remove the ignition coils
Remove the chain tensioner
Remove the front wheels
Remove the engine lower cover
Remove the splash guards
Remove the crankshaft position sensor
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Disconnect the air-conditioning compressor and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the hose(s)
Remove the coolant expansion tank and place it aside
Slowly compress the tensioner
Note: Do not disconnect the fluid lines
Lock the tensioner; use a locking pin
Remove the dipstick
Remove the chain tensioner rail
Remove the cylinder head cover
Remove the chain guide rail
Remove the access plug
Remove the timing chain
Fit the crankshaft TDC locking pin (303-507)

Remove the oil pump chain tensioner
Remove the second
battery chain

Fit the crankshaft pulley bolt


Fit the crankshaft pulley
Note: Counterhold at crankshaft bolt
Remove the oil pump gearwheel

Disconnect the battery earth cable


Remove the ignition coils
Remove the front wheels
Remove the engine lower cover
Remove the splash guards
Remove the crankshaft position sensor
Remove the crankshaft pulley
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Remove the crankshaft pulley centre bolt
Disconnect the air-conditioning compressor and place it aside
Remove the oil pump chain
Note: Do not disconnect the hose(s)
Remove the crankshaft gearwheel
Remove the coolant expansion tank and place it aside
Installation
Note: Do not disconnect the fluid lines
Refit the crankshaft gearwheel
Remove the dipstick
Fit the oil pump chain onto the crankshaft gearwheel
Remove the cylinder head cover
Fit the oil pump chain onto the oil pump gearwheel
Remove the access plug
Fit the crankshaft pulley bolt
Fit the crankshaft TDC locking pin (303-507)

Fit the crankshaft pulley
Remove
Note: Counterhold
the batteryatcover
crankshaft bolt
Tighten the oil pump gearwheel (20 - 30 Nm 06)

Remove the crankshaft pulley


Remove the crankshaft pulley centre bolt
Refit the second chain guide (8 - 12 Nm)
Refit the oil pump chain tensioner (8 - 12 Nm )
Disconnect the battery earth cable
Remove the ignition coils
Remove the front wheels
Remove the engine lower cover
Remove the splash guards
Remove the crankshaft position sensor
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Fit the camshaft locking tool (303 - 465 (49 UN30 3465))
Disconnect the air-conditioning compressor and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the hose(s)
Remove the coolant expansion tank and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the fluid lines

Remove the battery cover

Fit the timing chain


Refit the chain guide rail (8 - 12 Nm)
Disconnect
Refit the chain

Remove

Renew thecrankshaft

oil seal

in the engine front cover
Remove the

Disconnect the air-conditioning compressor and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the hose(s)
Remove the coolant expansion tank and place it aside

Remove the dipstick
Remove the cylinder head cover
Remove the access plug
Fit the crankshaft TDC locking pin (303-507)
Timing chain: removal/installation
Removal
Refit the timing chain cover (A: 8 - 12 Nm, B: 40 - 55 Nm, C: 20 - 30 Nm )
Remove
Note: Apply
the sealant
battery before
cover fitting

Disconnect the battery earth cable


Remove the ignition coils
Remove the front wheels
Remove the engine lower cover
Remove the splash guards
Refit the studs (7 - 13 Nm)
Remove the crankshaft position sensor
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Disconnect the air-conditioning compressor and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the hose(s)
Remove the coolant expansion tank and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the fluid lines
Remove the dipstick
Remove the cylinder head cover
Remove the access plug
Timing chain: removal/installation
Removal
Refit the engine support bracket
Remove
Tightening
the battery
sequence:
cover (A: 75 - 105 Nm, B: 75 - 93 Nm )

Remove the engine support tool (49 C017 5A0)


Refit the automatic tensioner (18 - 27 Nm)
Refit the coolant pump pulley (20 - 30 Nm)
Disconnect the battery earth cable
Refit the crankshaft pulley
Remove the ignition coils
Fit the bolt (M6x1.0 )
Remove the front wheels
Remove the engine lower cover
Remove the splash guards
Remove the crankshaft position sensor
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Disconnect the air-conditioning compressor and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the hose(s)
Remove the coolant expansion tank and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the fluid lines
Tighten
Remove the
the crankshaft
dipstick pulley centre bolt
Stage 1: (96 - 104 Nm)
Remove the cylinder head cover
Stage 2: (87° - 93°)
Remove the access plug
Remove the bolt TDC locking
Fit the crankshaft (M6x1.0)
pin (303-507)

Remove the crankshaft TDC locking pin (303-507 )
Remove the battery cover

Remove the camshaft locking tool (303 - 465 (49 UN30 3465) )

Disconnect the battery earth cable


Remove the ignition coils
Remove the front wheels
Remove the engine lower cover
Remove the splash guards
Remove the crankshaft position sensor
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Disconnect the air-conditioning compressor and place it aside
Turn the crankshaft clockwise 2 rotations
Note: Do not disconnect the hose(s)
Check the timing
Remove the coolant expansion tank and place it aside
The timing is set when the special tool(s) fit correctly (303-507, 303 - 465 (49 UN30 3465))
Note: Do not disconnect the fluid lines
Remove the crankshaft TDC locking pin (303-507)
Remove the dipstick
Remove the camshaft locking tool (303 - 465 (49 UN30 3465))
Remove the cylinder head cover
Refit the access plug (18 - 22 Nm)
Remove the access plug
Refit the cylinder head cover (8.0 - 9.5)

Refit the dipstick
Remove
Refit the the
coolant
battery
expansion
cover tank
Refit the air-conditioning compressor (17 - 27 Nm)
Refit the ancillary drive belt
Fit the crankshaft TDC locking pin (303-507)
Turn the crankshaft to TDC for cylinder 1
Check the position of the sensor wheel
Count the number of teeth

Disconnect the battery earth cable


Refit
Removethe the
crankshaft
ignition position
coils sensor (5.5 - 7.5 Nm )

Remove the front wheels


Remove the engine lower cover
Remove the splash guards
Remove the crankshaft position sensor
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Disconnect the air-conditioning compressor and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the hose(s)
Remove the coolant expansion tank and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the fluid lines
Remove the dipstick
Remove the crankshaft TDC locking pin (303-507)
Remove the cylinder head cover
Refit the splash guards
Remove the access plug
Refit the engine lower cover
Fit the crankshaft TDC locking pin (303-507)

Oil pump chain tensioner (8 - 12 Nm)
Ancillary drive belt automatic tensioner: (18 - 27 Nm)
Engine support bracket: (A: 75 - 105 Nm, B: 75 - 93 Nm)
Disconnect the battery earth cable
Remove the ignition coils
Remove the front wheels
Remove the engine lower cover
Remove the splash guards
Remove the crankshaft position sensor
Remove the ancillary drive belt
Disconnect the air-conditioning compressor and place it aside
Note: Do not disconnect the hose(s)
Remove the coolant expansion tank and place it aside
Access plug: (18 - 22 Nm)
Note: Do not disconnect the fluid lines

Remove the dipstick

Remove the cylinder head cover
Camshaft locking tool: (303 - 465 (49 UN30 3465))
Remove the access plug
Engine support tool: (49 C017 5A0)
Fit the crankshaft TDC locking pin (303-507)
