5.1.2. Before beginning any construction, the ROW boundary will be marked out based on
the pipeline alignment drawings approved by OEPC.

5.1.3. Survey work will proceed according Standard Specification 0011, Section 2.5 & 2.6
2
5.2. Identifying existing interferences

5.2.1. Landowners and communities adjacent to the ROW will be consulted as to the
existence of telephone cables, electric wires and other underground installations. In
the case they do exist, they will be marked and data will be registered in the as-built
drawings.

5.3. Marking out the Inflection Points (IP)

5.3.1. The marking out of the trench centerline will be done with a total station and the
staking will take place every 20 meters, with progressive numbering (stake
numbering).

5.4. IP ties.

5.4.1. All of the trench IP’s will have an angle and distance relative to the traverse of the
trench.

5.4.2. The intersections will be made up of benchmarks and stakes identifying the IP’s
value.

5.4.3. All notes taken will be registered in field notebooks and maintained in the
construction site technical office.

5.4.4. Any reference point inside the ROW which may interfere with pipe installing will be
topographically relocated and re-marked after restoration.

5.5 Surveying details in the Right of Way (ROW).

5.5.1. High voltage power lines will be identified by the voltage value, the width of the
electrical utility ROW, number of adjacent towers, their positions as related to the
ROW, the intersecting angle, the existence of braces or guy wires.

5.5.2. Any channels and/or rivers crossing the ROW will be identified by name, width, and
water flow direction.

5.5.3. Roads will be identified by name and angles of intersection, positions as related to
the ROW and the pipeline Km. The Km of the road will be identified as well.

5.5.4. Landowner property limits will be identified on as built drawings as well as all items in
5.5.1, 5.5.2 and 5.5.3 above.

5.6. Traverse closing / ties.

5.6.1. The installing, marking and tie-in will be carried out using a system that describes
UTM topographic coordinates.

5.6.2. The UTM’s used can be seen in the preliminary design plans 1- 21/21; 1-16/16; 1-
14/14; 1A- 13/13 supplied by OEPC.

5.7. Tolerances.

5.7.1. Initial Topography Survey

a) Linear closing: the maximum deviation related to the linear closing must be of
1/500.

b) Angular closing: the maximum deviation for the angular closing of a traverse
or triangulation must be of 1’ x  N (1 minute times the square root of N)
where “N” is the traverse’s number of vertices.

c) Altimeter closing: the maximum deviation for the trigonometric leveling, using
the back to front reading method, will be of 15 cm/Km. In critical areas where
trigonometric leveling loses accuracy, geometric leveling should be adopted
and the maximum deviation will be of 30 mm x  L (30 millimeters times the
square root of L), “L” being the traverse’s number of kilometers.

5.7.2. Topographical Survey of Areas or Strips for Final Pipeline Alignment

a) Linear closing of areas: the maximum deviation for the linear closing of the
main traverse of the areas must be of 1/5000.
b) Linear closing of strips: the maximum deviation to the traverse linear closing
of the strips must be of 1/10000
c) Angular closing: the maximum deviation for the traverse’s angular closing
must be of 30" x  N (thirty seconds times the square root of N), “N” being the
traverse’s number of vertices.
d) Altimetry closing: the maximum deviation for the geometric leveling of the
traverses must be of 10 mm x  L (ten millimeters times the square root of L)
“L” being the traverse’s number of kilometers.

5.7.3. Closing Deviation Verification

All operations must have closing deviation verification. If maximum deviation is

overlooked, all necessary operations must be performed in order to adapt it
according to sub-items 5.7.1. and 5.7.2.

Note: The counter leveling of the trench must be geometrical, and up to 100 m may
be done in one shot on favorable ground.

5.8. Strip bearing.

5.8.1. The strip’s lateral bearing will be done with wooden stakes located approximately
every 20 m, painted red and at every Km a visible marker will be placed.

5.8.2. The benchmarks and stakes, eventually removed, will be topographically re-located.

5.8.3. The guideline points of inflection will be placed and interconnected. The inflection
points’ ties will be installed preferably on the right side of the ROW, though they may
be on the left if it gives a better return position to the project’s base.

5.8.4. The reference points will be placed along the pipe centerline at a safe distance, be it
right or left, using the best ground position, at the most convenient distance in each
case.

5.9. Installing the trench’s centerline.

5.9.1. Once the correct position of the pipeline is defined, its inflection points (IP’s) will be
finalized and ties performed outside the work strip. Starting from reference points of
known coordinates, marked along the strip, a traverse will be made above the
finalized IP’s, tied to two other reference points.

5.9.2. After the traverse is concluded, the information will be sent to the field office where it
will be topographically calculated. Once the traverse is closed within the parameters
quoted in the above items, the stationing will be calculated.

5.9.3. The stationing calculation will be returned to the total stations to proceed with the
stationing of the actual trench.

5.10. Bearing for pipe stringing.

5.10.1. For pipe stringing along the ROW, benchmarks will be placed approximately 0,50 m
from the side of the trench.

5.10.2. From trench bearings, the stationing will be identified with markers on the side of the
side of the ROW every 500 m.

5.11. Support for lowering-in.

5.11.1. Bearing, with stakes, of the places where deeper digging of the trench is necessary,
will be done within the elastic limits of the pipe.

5.11.2. Verification of pipe cover during lowering-in will be done with the total station when
working close to rivers, streams and swamps.

5.12. Accompaniment of special projects.

5.12.1. River crossings.

a) Reinforced stakes will be placed on both edges of the river to direct the
excavation.
b) Regular bathymetric surveys will be performed to verify excavation, and until
planned depth is reached.
c) After the installation of the pipeline, a bathymetric verification will be made
locating the top side of the pipe in accordance with specifications.
d) Such verification will be performed with total station, using the closest
reference to the site.

5.12.2 Road crossing.

Road crossings will be topographically aligned in the trench and there will be an
elevation reading on the pipe. The contour elevation readings will be referenced to
the nearest point.

5.13. ROW restoration.

5.13.1. All prior marking that were damaged during Construction services will be re-installed
topographically.

5.13.2. Specific drainage plans will be developed in critical locations to control water flow.

5.13.3. All new drainage measures will be registered by survey.
