MMRDA has planned a 126 km long 12-lane Virar-Alibaug corridor which will connect NH-8, Bhiwandi bypass, NH-3, NH-48, Mumbai-Pune Expressway,
NH-66.
MMRDA approved Thane–Bhiwandi–Kalyan Metro (line 5) has a proposed route of 16 stations from Kapurbavdi (Thane) to Kalyan, connecting this region
with the rest of Mumbai metro network.
