The key takeaways are that algebraic terms represent unknown quantities and can be combined using addition and subtraction to form algebraic expressions. Letters are used to represent unknowns and coefficients represent multiplying factors.

Algebraic terms represent unknown quantities multiplied by numbers. Algebraic expressions are combinations of two or more algebraic terms using addition, subtraction, or both. Terms with the same unknowns are like terms while terms with different unknowns are unlike terms.

Like terms are terms with the same unknowns that can be combined, while unlike terms contain different unknowns and cannot be combined or simplified.
