Bishop D'Arcy Remembrance
From Holy Cross College President Brother John R. Paige, C.S.C.: Bishop D'Arcy provided great encouragement for our work here at Holy Cross. In addition to being a shepherd for the entire diocese, he was a true friend of the college. When it came time to implement the norms for Ex Corde Ecclesiae, he had already established himself as a friendly and familiar pastor with whom we naturally enjoyed positive and fruitful dialogue. He was a frequent visitor to our campus and his visits usually included Mass and lunch with our students. Both he and our students enjoyed this time together immensely. His Commencement speeches were always notable and he never failed to publicly endorse our good work. Occasionally, he even came to campus to teach R.C.I.A. classes for our students preparing to become Catholic. Bishop D'Arcy's warmth, kindness and constant affirmations will be greatly missed at Holy Cross College.
