Quanta Computer Environmental Protection Policy
Quanta Computer focuses on the design and manufacturing of electronic products and application tools. The company’s primary environmental impacts arise from electricity use, domestic wastewater treatment, and waste management. Upholding the philosophy of coexistence with the Earth, all employees are committed to observing and implementing the following environmental policies, aimed at achieving pollution prevention and continuous improvement, thus fostering harmony between business operations and environmental protection.
- Monitoring International Environmental Issues and Trends: We promote the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System at all operational sites, ensuring that, while striving for operational performance, we meet local environmental regulations to minimize environmental impact. Employees and representatives are encouraged to recognize environmental protection as their responsibility and duty.
- Product Design and Manufacturing Compliance: We strictly adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and other binding requirements throughout the product design and manufacturing processes. Environmental considerations are fully integrated into product design, with a focus on low energy consumption and low pollution to meet environmental standards and promote sustainable development.
- Setting Environmental Targets: We continuously establish specific, measurable environmental goals and work to improve overall environmental performance through ongoing optimization of environmental management measures..
- Regular Compliance Audits: Periodic audits are conducted to ensure operations are up-to-date and meet the latest regulatory requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: We actively communicate, collaborate, and exchange feedback with stakeholders, working together with customers, suppliers, and contractors to promote eco-friendly actions and continuously enhance environmental performance.
Environmental Protection Performance Criteria
- Carbon Reduction Goals Aligned with Science-Based Targets: We commit to limiting global warming to 1.5°C, targeting a reduction of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 42% and Scope 3 emissions by 25% by 2030, compared to 2022 levels, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
- Climate and Nature Risk Assessments: Regular assessments are conducted to understand our operational and supply chain dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities related to nature and climate.
- Annual Greenhouse Gas Inventory: An annual internal greenhouse gas inventory is carried out to track emissions accurately. Based on the results, we develop concrete reduction strategies.
- Enhancing Environmental and Energy Efficiency: We aim to meet ISO 50001 energy-saving standards, targeting 50% renewable energy usage by 2030 and ultimately reaching 100%.
- Internal and External Audits: Internal audits and third-party verifications are conducted to ensure effective functioning of the environmental management system, continuously improving compliance and effectiveness.
- Environmental Permits and Documentation: In compliance with regulations, necessary environmental permits, approvals, and registration documents are obtained, maintained, and regularly updated.
- Prohibition and Restriction of Specific Substances: As required by law and customer requirements, we prohibit or restrict the use of certain substances. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), aerosols, corrosive substances, particulates, ozone-depleting chemicals, and other hazardous chemicals and waste generated in operations are categorized, routinely monitored, controlled, and safely managed.
- Natural Resource Conservation and Waste Reduction: We reduce natural resource consumption through production improvements, recycling, and reuse, implementing systematic measures to identify, manage, reduce, and responsibly dispose of or recycle non-hazardous solid waste.
- Water Resource Protection: We monitor and record water usage, manage wastewater discharge, and strive to reduce emissions to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Promoting Green Products: We produce environmentally friendly products by using renewable energy and recyclable materials.
- Preventing Deforestation and Ecosystem Damage: We strive to reduce pollution of air, soil, water resources, noise, waste, and excessive water use in our operations, minimizing harmful impacts on the environment and ecosystems. We respect ecological and land rights when managing land, forests, and water resources, prohibiting illegal displacement of species and overuse of resources.
- Commitment to Net-Zero Emissions: By 2050, we will gradually reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, refrain from funding lobbying activities against climate regulations, and actively collaborate with stakeholders to promote participation in environmental protection initiatives and build related capacities.
- Raising Awareness: Through promotion, training, and activities, we increase employee awareness of environmental protection and occupational safety, strengthening our management effectiveness in these areas.
