“May we work toward collaboration over competition, embrace equality over hierarchy, and use our own unique strengths to empower others rather than to gain power over others.” In this blog post, Carie Moore, MTS-FT alumna, reflects on how the God-child in the nativity scene can remind us of Christ-centered leadership and how it is based on a responsibility towards others. "What a fitting title this road had earned, to be a symbol of maternal strength and source of connection across so many states and recognizable worldwide...In making this journey with my trusty sidekick, my own mother, the road's moniker became even more aligned to this idea. As the odometer ticked on, I thought of the similarities between my earthly mama and heavenly one (both named Mary, as it turns out)." Taking inspiration from the beauty that surrounds us, marketing major Stephen Sayler '27 crafted his new poem, 'The Chapel on the Hill'. The Chapel on the Hill I stare down at a thousand lives unfolding, From the chapel on the hill, Each with a story, Begging to be heard, I imagine their eyes gazing hopefully upward, Seeing the chapel on the hill, But not me. How could a thousand pairs of eyes not see me? And yet, a comfort like a blanket falls over me. By the chapel on the hill, I am a mere speck to the thousands below. A thousand lives, and I am but one. A thousand stories waiting to be heard. A thousand lives simply living. A thousand people I will never know. A thousand reasons why. But I only need one. - Stephen Sayler

Their friendship exemplifies the importance of accompaniment on the path of faith. Check out this post at the Franciscan Media blog by the MTS-FT academic director, Darleen Pryds.
