Today, on International Migrants Day, we recognize the resilience and contributions of migrants around the world who enrich our communities with their talents, cultures, and perspectives 🌍 Consider supporting local immigration charities or migrant-owned businesses to help ensure safe migration for individuals who have arrived in your community, whether by choice or due to a crisis. Francia Maras, a consultant on the client insights team here at Circana, shared some suggestions: “The way I have contributed to making migrants feel welcome in my community is by essentially creating a supportive network that helps them integrate and feel valued in their new environment by offering language assistance, providing information about local services, inviting them to social events, helping them navigate bureaucratic processes, sharing cultural experiences, learning a few phrases in their language, volunteering to assist with housing or employment searches, and actively challenging discriminatory behavior. Here are some organizations that can help you get started: Welcome.US: https://www.welcome.us U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI): https://refugees.org/ Virtue: https://lnkd.in/gQxYSVQQ” Let’s work together to build inclusive societies where dignity, respect, and opportunity are extended to all. https://lnkd.in/gsS5Xup #DiversityMatters

Our DEI volunteers are the heart of our progress in advancing DEI at Circana. This year, they’ve spearheaded over 90 development, cultural, networking, recruitment, and educational programs, providing thought-provoking and fun opportunities for colleagues to connect as a community and learn how we can all help create an inclusive culture every day. Here are two recent examples: For the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Circana Italy’s DEI committee hosted Fondazione Somaschi Onlus, a non-profit aid center dedicated to supporting women and children who are victims of gender violence. They discussed domestic violence, its warning signs, and ways to support affected colleagues. This emotionally powerful event deepened our understanding and sparked meaningful reflection. Our DiversAbility BRG and Italian DEI Committee held an event on ‘Mental Health & Caregivers,’ featuring two Circanian moms sharing their journeys as caregivers for teens with mental health conditions. Colleagues joined globally, and attendees in Milan learned about SCN2A Italia Famiglie in rete aps, a resource for caregivers. This is just a glimpse of the incredible work our DEI volunteers are doing worldwide. THANK YOU for an impactful year—we can’t wait for what’s ahead in 2025! #DEIAtCircana #RedChair #FondazioneSomaschi #InternationalDayForTheEliminationOfViolenceAgainstWomen #MentalHealth

We’re honored to be recognized by Progressive Grocer as a 2024 Impact Award recipient in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging category! Our Diversity Advantage Program (DAP) exemplifies Circana’s commitment to empowering minority- and women-owned small CPG businesses with the tools, data, and coaching they need to thrive. Since its launch in 2021, DAP has grown to include 58 participants, supported by 250+ Circana employees who volunteer more than 15,000 hours annually. This program wouldn’t be possible without the collaboration of incredible retailer partners like Amazon, Kroger, Target, and Walmart. Together, we’re leveling the playing field for small businesses and driving meaningful progress. Thank you to Progressive Grocer for this recognition and for highlighting the importance of ESG initiatives that make a lasting impact! https://lnkd.in/gbNHhkaj

We’re also especially proud of the work that DiversAbility, a business resource group led by Ciranians living with physical and/or mental health disabilities or conditions and their allies, does to advance disability inclusion in our culture. Thank you for the work you do all year round, Antonio Buffa, Mary Gustafson Butler, Abigail Dean, Tim Fires, Jon Graff, Susana Marquez, Stefania Minoia, Tony Salerno, nicoletta scardigli, Linda Shaw and Jason Stonestreet! #IDPD #Inclusion #DisabilityRights
In 1992, the United Nations began the annual observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of persons with disabilities. We share the U.N.’s vision and continuously work to advance these aims in our work environments and internal policies. Teams across Circana fundraise, sponsor learnerships and employment, and volunteer with organizations that create employment opportunities for individuals living with physical and mental disabilities. One such organization was will&able, a New Zealand-based cleaning products company that began working with Circana after the pandemic dramatically shifted the trajectory of their business. We're honored to have been part of their growth story - read about our collaboration here: https://bit.ly/4ifmsl6 #IDPD #Inclusion #DisabilityRights

On November 20, Brazil recognizes Black Consciousness/Awareness Day (“Dia da Consciência Negra”) to honor the contributions of Afro-Brazilian citizens and raise awareness about the injustices of slavery which began in 1594 and was officially abolished in 1888. In that time, 40% of all Africans brought to the Americas in the transatlantic slave trade were brought to Brazil. According to the 2022 census, people of African descent make up to 55% of Brazil’s population, making it the largest African diaspora in the world. It’s no surprise that Afro-Brazilians have heavily influenced Brazil’s food, music, religion, art, dance and many other cultural expressions. This is a day to reflect on history and its continued legacy in Brazil’s ongoing fight for racial equality. It’s also a day to celebrate the strength, culture, and impact of the Afro-Brazilian community. On November 19, we observe International Men’s Day, a day dedicated to men’s health, well-being, and positive male role models. It encourages healthy expressions of masculinity and celebrates those who champion change through inclusive actions. Started in Trinidad and Tobago in 1999, this global event is now recognized in over 80 countries. We’re excited to be joined by Ed Frauenheim, a writer, speaker, and consultant who has focused on workplace, technology, and culture matters for over 25 years. We will explore how challenging conventional views of manhood free men to thrive, and the possibilities that can be unlocked when we all support men’s well-being, encourage allyship, and explore how everyone benefits from a more diverse, equitable, inclusive Circana. Transgender Awareness Week is a crucial time to foster understanding and empathy for the transgender community. It shines a light on their stories, sparks essential conversations about the challenges they face, and fuels advocacy against discrimination and prejudice. Circana’s Pride Alliance BRG will be hosting an informal discussion of our thoughts and feelings about the documentary film “Will and Harper” and its timely impact on the community. We are all about creating safe spaces for conversations on important — and sometimes challenging — topics, and this film gives us a great starting point for this important discussion. Let’s come together to support and uplift the transgender community. Visit GLAAD for resources and insights: https://lnkd.in/e4Uanmd #TransWeek

On Veterans Day, we come together to honor the sacrifices of those who served and reflect on the heroism of those who gave their lives in defense of freedom. Veterans Day shares its origins with Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, commemorating the end of World War I. Observing Veterans Day on November 11 each year ensures we preserve its historical significance and focus on its purpose: to honor veterans’ patriotism, service, and sacrifices. Our VALOR business resource group will be hosting an interactive discussion with retired Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Yantis, who retired in 2006 from the Army after 23 years of dedicated service and successfully managed a transition from the military to the civilian workforce. He will share his experiences and offer tips on how we, as allies, can help ease this transition for veterans.
