Spring Skiing...Is there any snow left?
As the ski season extends its reach into April, skiers across Europe are enjoying some late season snow, marking a remarkable turnaround from a slow start earlier in the season. Despite initial concerns and variable conditions (exaggerated by the press and media), clients have been greeted with ample opportunities to enjoy their ski holidays throughout this season, with recent days witnessing fresh snowfall in numerous resorts, including Val d'Isere, Verbier, and Cervina.
This resurgence of snow is a testament to the unpredictability of mountain weather and the resilience of the ski industry. While spring typically brings fluctuating conditions, the recent snowfall has injected a renewed sense of excitement among skiers and snowboarders alike, signaling that the season is far from reaching its conclusion.
For many, the prospect of extended snow conditions presents an enticing opportunity to squeeze in some additional time on the slopes. It's a chance to savor the thrill of carving through freshly groomed runs, soaking in breathtaking mountain vistas, and of course, a long terrace lunch!
Moreover, the recent snowfall underscores the adaptability of resorts and their commitment to providing exceptional experiences for guests right until the last lifts close for the season. Despite the challenges posed by variable weather patterns, resorts have remained steadfast in their dedication to maintaining prime skiing conditions, ensuring that visitors can make the most of their time on the mountain.
As we continue to embrace the joys of late-season skiing, it's essential to approach these final weeks with a sense of gratitude and enthusiasm. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a novice eager to experience the magic of the mountains, there's something undeniably special about the opportunity to carve through pristine snow under the spring sun.
In conclusion, while spring may be in the air, the mountains of Europe are still covered in snow, beckoning all who seek spring turns and unforgettable experiences. As we would expect, some of the lower slopes are variable, but 'up top' conditions are fantastic.
My tip: In spring, start early in the day to enjoy firm, freshly groomed slopes and optimal snow conditions. Book a later lunch to extend your time on the mountain. This way, you'll make the most of the morning's prime skiing conditions and savor a leisurely meal with panoramic mountain views.

8moI can certainly vouch for the fresh snow in Val D'Isere - we skied powder "on Piste" on Sunday. Fabulous under ski conditions ... finished off with an Easter "dance" at the iconic Folie Douce late afternoon ! Always entertaining and a huge hit with the grown up kids visiting from Zurich 🕺

8moWe've just had a lovely amount of snow in the French Alps, as is fairly normal for spring time. Before I lived here I came out end of April come what may and always found snow and laughter and mostly sunshine.
