blackcrows guide | gear up for ski touring

from hats to skins, get the right equipment for ski touring

Ski touring and adventure skiing are part of the genesis and essence of blackcrows, it's what shaped the brand from the beginning here in the mountains of Chamonix Mont-Blanc. The ultimate quest for good snow and good conditions means skis light enough for the ascent but most importantly wide enough to enjoy going down, equipped with touring bindings (at blackcrows, Charles takes care of the mounting, and it's free).

Under the skis, you need well-cut skins, with an efficient and practical attachment system. Our pilus are custom-fit, and in addition to having the right grip on climbs and the right glide for long, adventurous flats, they feature the blackcrows chevron design, so you can keep your head up even showing your bare skin to all.

Let’s not forget a good pair of poles: telescopic and/or with a long grip to be able to push efficiently on the steepest slopes, light so as not to clutter up the practice unnecessarily and aesthetically pleasing, because for us it's all about style, especially during effort. Whether you're into light touring or big mountain, our range of poles fits everybody: oxus with extra long grip, carbon furtis, and our 2 or 3 strand telescopic duos and trios freebird.

For us, touring in the mountain is a simple equation: lightness but above all skiability. Touring is a timeless practice, which we seek to simplify to the extreme, so that pleasure predominates. We have therefore developed technical wear with a whole range of particularly adapted, light, functional and wildly refined clothes.
