IGM Resins Team Keeps Spirit of Giving Alive

We all have fond memories of bounding down the stairs early Christmas morning, basking in the abundance of beautifully wrapped gifts under the tree. Yet for many young children, this is only a dream, perhaps relating to the character Billy from “The Polar Express,” that “Christmas just doesn’t work out for them.”

Having recently enjoyed a successful Global Impact Day, the IGM Resins USA team wanted to continue to give back to those in need. An employee suggestion led to our most recent initiative.

In place for decades, the Salvation Army Angel Tree program provides gifts to hundreds of thousands of deserving children across our nation each year. Parents or guardians complete an online application detailing the needs and wants of the child, which is shared with prospective donors.

Set up in the breakroom, the IGM Resins Angel Tree was filled with tags noting the specific items from our sponsor children including toys, games, books, arts and crafts, and clothing. Our goal was to fulfill the lists for eight children. Yet enthusiasm was so high, we added three more!

Each visit to the Angel Tree brought smiles to every team member knowing that they were making a difference in a child’s life. The bounty was recently delivered to the Salvation Army, who will distribute the items on Christmas morning.

“The warehouse was overflowing,” Jordan Ernsberger, People and Organization Specialist said. “I was so proud to be a part of this wonderful initiative and to be a part of an organization that is purposeful in giving back.”

The Salvation Army Angel Tree program was a resounding success, and our team is gratified knowing that their small gestures of kindness will make a young child’s Christmas season a little bit brighter.
