We recently spoke with Jacob Church, engineering apprentice at Teledyne e2v, (who have achieved the Gold standard ‘Excellent Employer’ status of for the Kitemark 2 years running) regarding what it means to him as a young person for his employer to care enough about their apprentices experiences to pursue accreditation – and why he believes the Kitemark helps other young people to distinguish between employers when choosing where to pursue an engineering apprenticeship. Today, we had the privilege of attending an event at the Senedd, where we heard from the ECA and members of the Welsh government about the exciting future of the electrical industry. One key takeaway? The vital role apprentices play in shaping that future. At DMJones, we firmly believe that apprenticeships are more than just a pathway for individuals to learn a trade—they’re an investment in the future of our industry. However, the lack of apprenticeships is concerning. If we’re to meet the growing demands of our sector, we need to address this together. Collaboration across the sector is key.
