Customer service can mean different things to different people. It depends on where they are in their customer experience journey. When you are early in the journey, it is all about the process. As service level improves, you start to focus on how to wow your customer by building customer experiences outside-in. You start to pay attention to the emotional side of the experience and how you connect build stronger relations than just handling a transaction. That is why it is difficult to pick one quote about customer service that I personally like. I chose few, even though there are many more that are equally good. I also share why I like each: 1️⃣ “When the customer comes first, the customer will last.” – Robert Half 🏆 Why I like it: Keeping customers at the center of every discussion by default will result in improvements that result in loyalty. 2️⃣ “Customer service starts where customer experience fails.” – Chris Zane 🛠️ Why I like it: Every customer interaction is a problem that caused the customer to contact you. By analyzing contacts, you have the perfect opportunity to improve customer experience. 3️⃣ “If you don’t care, your customer never will.” – Marlene Blaszczyk ❤️🩹 Why I like it: It shows the importance of caring and empathy in every customer contact. 4️⃣ “If we consistently exceed the expectations of employees, they will consistently exceed the expectations of our customers.” – • Shep Hyken 😊 Why I like it: Happy employees are what enables happy customers. You need both to happen for any great experience. 5️⃣ “The customer’s perception is your reality.” – Kate Zabriskie 👀 Why I like it: The voice of the customer is as important as the voice of process even when your internal metrics all look great.
