Your business goal this year may be to attend more local in person networking events. It's been a long time since you last stepped away from the farm office to engage with others who share similar interests. Lately, you've been spending more time with the kids, horses, goats, lambs, and cows. Take a moment for yourself this month and head into town to participate in a community event. Living in a rural area can sometimes feel isolating, so remember to take care of yourself and indulge in some self-care. #problemsolver #servicebasedbusiness #buildalifeyoulove #businessbuilding #careersuccess #serviceprovider #nswaustralia #victoriaaustralia #queenslandaustralia #australianbusiness #ruralbusiness #smallbusinessbigdreams #smallbusinesscommunity #ruralaustralianbusiness

Rhode Islanders are famously known for sticking close to home, often because the state is so small that everything feels just around the corner. If I were to think like a Rhode Islander deciding whether to attend an event, here are three reasons why proximity matters: Time Efficiency: Rhode Island is only about 48 miles long and 37 miles wide, so if an event is within a 15-20 minute drive, it’s more likely I’d go. After all, it’s not about spending hours on the road—it's about squeezing the most enjoyment out of limited time. Traffic and Parking Considerations: Rhode Island, especially Providence, can have pretty heavy traffic or limited parking, which can be frustrating. The closer the event is, the less likely I’ll have to deal with the hassle of finding parking or sitting in gridlock. A quick hop, skip, and jump is always preferred. Community Vibes: Rhode Island’s tight-knit communities mean there’s a strong sense of local pride. If the event is within my city or town—say, something in Providence or a local festival in Narragansett—it feels more personal and connected to my community, making it more enticing to attend. So, if an event is within, say, a 10-20 minute radius, the chances of going are pretty high. Beyond that? It would take something special to make it worth the longer trek!
