Veolia UK’s Post

By 2050, global food production will have to increase by 50% to meet the needs of a growing population - innovative solutions are therefore vital to ensure a more sustainable food supply 💡 The process of bioconversion uses insects to transform organic waste from the agricultural and agri-food industries into animal feed and fertiliser, which is helping to create a more circular food chain as well as maximising the value of organic by-products. In Malaysia, Veolia runs one of Asia’s largest industrial structures dedicated to insect production with a capacity of 3,000 tons per year, and markets its protein products: EntomealTM (flour) and Entolipid (oil). This innovation now looks set to enter the European market.
