Did you know? More than two-thirds of jurisdictions reported that it was “very difficult” or “somewhat difficult” to sufficiently staff their polling locations in the past election cycles. College students can play a huge role in ensuring all polling places are secure, efficient, and accessible in 2024! Remember - Vote from Abroad has trained experts available to guide you through any part of the process. For most people, it is not too late to make your voice heard in the 2024 elections!
Sent in my U.S. absentee ballot today! Americans living abroad, there is still time to vote in the November election, but NOW is the time to do it. For some states, today (Oct. 6) is the deadline to request your absentee ballot. And for the 26 states that require voters to mail in their ballots, it's best to get those posted right away. For anyone who needs a quick refresher on how to vote overseas absentee, see below. And if you have any questions about your specific situation, feel free to reach out! I'm a certified volunteer with the Federal Voter Assistance Program, the U.S. government's non-partisan support program for military and overseas voters. Polling experts say this election will be among the closest in history, with presidential and congressional races too close to predict in at least 18 states. That means your vote matters, regardless of your political party, even if you don't live in a "classic" swing state. Overseas Quick Voting Guide: 1. Register as an overseas voter and request your ballot by filling out the FPCA form. You can fill out the form by visiting: https://lnkd.in/dE8-VnX4 and selecting the state where you last lived. - Under federal law, all overseas absentee voters can receive their ballots electronically. (The rules are different for in-state absentee voters.) Be sure to check the "receive by email" option. - Different states have different rules, however, for how you return the FPCA and your ballot. If you live in a state that lets you fax in your forms, internet fax services like faxzero.com work really well. - Different states also have different deadlines for voter registration and ballot request deadlines. Check your state's deadlines here: https://lnkd.in/d9WTx_ZE - If you're already registered to vote and just need to request your absentee ballot, some states give you extra time. You can see if you're registered at: https://lnkd.in/dtmPbnqd. 2. You should receive your ballot via email in a few days (check your Spam folder!) Once you receive your ballot, follow the instructions carefully to return it. - Always return your ballot electronically if you have the option. - If you don't receive your ballot after a few days, contact your local election official. Visit https://lnkd.in/ddZxDR2p and select "Election Office Contact Information" a few items down to get email addresses and phone numbers. - If you live in a "mail-in ballot state," while you wait for your ballot, fill out the alternative Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot and mail it in asap. https://lnkd.in/dyJifUMd. Then, fill out and return your normal state ballot. If both arrive in time, only the state ballot will be counted. If not, at least your federal back-up ballot will be counted. - Do NOT mail your ballot through the Embassy or Consulate. The diplomatic pouch takes too long and your ballot might not arrive by Nov. 5.

Accessibility Tip of the Day 275: It's Election Day in the US, so here's a reminder that disabled individuals can face significant barriers to voting, either through inaccessible web content or inaccessible physical locations. Things like the following can help: - Allowing voting by mail - Allowing early in-person voting - Accessible websites for voter registration - Accessible websites containing candidate information - Better training for election officials on how to help disabled individuals at in-person voting locations The Election Assistance Commission has a bunch of good resources online, including a series of training videos. 🔧 **Ensuring Integrity in the Voting Process** 🗳️ In the ever-evolving landscape of digital voting, maintaining transparency and integrity is paramount. Recently, Montana's electronic absentee voter system experienced a brief technical glitch, reported by a voter from the UK. The names of Democratic candidates, Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, were temporarily missing from the online ballot. This issue was confined to the Electronic Absentee System for UOCAVA voters. The swift response from Montana's election officials is commendable. The system was promptly taken offline for troubleshooting and successfully restored by the afternoon. Thanks to their proactive measures, only a few voters were potentially affected, and the issue was resolved without further impact. All certified candidates, including Harris and Walz, are confirmed to be present on Montana’s ballots. Kudos to the Montana Secretary of State’s Office for their dedication to protecting our democratic process. This incident highlights the importance of vigilance and readiness in overcoming the technological challenges of modern voting. Share your thoughts on how digital systems can further support transparent and secure elections. 👇 #VotingIntegrity #Election2024 #DemocracyInAction #DigitalVoting #UOCAVA #ElectionSecurity

🗳️ Voting Management System using C++ Hey linkedin members, I'm excited to share my second semester project where my team and I developed a Voting Management System using C++! Here are the features of the project! • 📅 Election Setup: Easily set up elections by entering the year and adding candidates. • 🗳️ Vote Casting: Voters cast their votes using their unique CNIC number. • 🔄 Unique Votes: Ensures one vote per CNIC, preventing duplicate voting because it do not cast vote with same CNIC. • 👥 Election Committee: Members can also start new elections and view candidate lists. • 🏆 Results: View the election results and see which candidate won, match should also be tie. 🔗Check out the project on GitHub: [Voting Management System](https://lnkd.in/dbPiPvDa) Special thanks to my amazing group members for their collaboration and hard work!

2/2 Register and request your ballot by your state’s deadline. You can use FVAP’s easy online assistant at www.FVAP.gov/FPCA to walk you through each section of the form. After you finish filling out the FPCA, print it, sign it, and send it to your election office. Most states accept the FPCA by email or fax while some require it by mail. Check your state-specific guidelines at FVAP.gov. Once you receive your requested absentee ballot, vote and return it as soon as you get it. Remember to carefully follow the instructions, especially if a “security envelope” is required, and sign the package as indicated when returning it. To save time, send voted ballots electronically if allowed by state law. Voters can check if their state accepts completed absentee ballots by email, fax, or via an online portal at FVAP.gov/guide. If a requested ballot has not arrived, use the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB) immediately at www.FVAP.gov/FWAB. It acts as a backup ballot. If your official state absentee ballot arrives after sending in the FWAB, complete and send in the official ballot, too. Only one will be counted. To ensure your voted ballot is received by your state, go to FVAP.gov, click on your state and then the "check the status of your voted ballot" button. To find your state's election website for specific information on candidates, elections, contact information, and links to your local election offices, visit the FVAP.gov contact page. You can also reach out directly to your election office for status updates on your registration and absentee ballot. Additional Information for non-UOCAVA voters: Uniformed service members, their families, and Department of Defense civilians who are currently stationed in the same location as their voting address may visit vote.gov to register to vote and request information from their local election office to vote locally. The Department of Defense is required to send this email notification starting 90 days before each election for federal office. This information is current as of June 12, 2024. As updates may occur, please check the election calendars, and state guidelines at FVAP.gov for real time information. If you would like more information on the Federal Voting Assistance Program, or need help with the absentee voting process, please go to FVAP.gov, call 703-588-1584 (toll free 1-800-438-VOTE or DSN 425-1584), or email ([email protected]).
