🤔 about Food System and Food Security The food system is a complex system with outcomes that serve human nutrition. Its most important goal is to achieve food security. According to the FAO, food security is a state where all people, at all times, have reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and preferences for an active and healthy life.   Food security is based on: 🔹Availability: enough food is produced, imported, or stored to meet the needs of a population. 🔹Access: people have the resources (money, infrastructure) to acquire the food they need. 🔹Utilization: people have the knowledge and ability to use the food effectively for proper nutrition. 🔹Stability: access to food is consistent and reliable over time, not threatened by shocks or seasonal variations.   Food security exists on a spectrum of degrees of access to nutritious food - households or individuals can be food secure, marginally food secure, moderately food insecure, severely food insecure, or experiencing hunger.   Food security also serves at different levels: personal, household, municipal, regional, country, continental, and global.   Below, you'll find slides demonstrating the interaction between the Food System and Food Security, along with its different levels, stakeholders, strategies, and potential actions.   The food system must fully support food security.
