Every consumer app used to become a messaging app. Now it's gaming, so we better get better at focusing. Netflix, LinkedIn, and now YouTube are luring in daily users with games. Don't know what to watch? Bored of the feed? Just listening while multi-tasking? Toss some Angry Birds. It's what I call the "march to vividness", where apps get more visual and immersive to simulate real life: ->From text (blogs, Fb status, Twitter) ->To photos (Instagram, Snapchat) ->To video (YouTube, Netflix) ->To live (Twitch, TikTok) ->To gaming inside every app More than ever, we have to develop "attention resilience" -- The ability to stay on task despite embedded distraction. It's no longer whether you're able to stay in the right app, but if you can stay in the right feature.

🚀 2 Key Trends from Gamescom 2024 you might like to Know🎮 1️⃣ Mobile Browser Gaming to Avoid App Store Fees: The shift continues—more developers are talking about moving to browser to bypass hefty app store take rates. While web shops for mobile games are not new, especially for big-ticket purchases ($500+), the conversation is moving to entire games being played in-browser or apps from non platform app stores. With advancements in mobile technology, browser based engines & WebGPU, along with modern player acquisition strategies through fans and communities on WhatsApp, Telegram, and Discord, the browser is becoming a more viable option. The appeal of sidestepping a 30% fee is hard to ignore and people are no longer as scared about not being a native platform app. 2️⃣ Revenue Growth Continues to be a Driving Force Gamescom visitors who don't work in the industry may be focused on gameplay, experience, characters, and stories, yet the industry is still primarily driven by sales and marketing, who are focused on something else: revenue. Conversations at Gamescom continue a long time trend where game teams seem to be working more to serve marketing and sales needs to drive revenue, rather than the other way around. As Tim O'Reilly aptly put it, “Money is like gasoline during a road trip. You don’t want to run out, but you’re not doing a tour of gas stations.” This focus on revenue growth over game experience highlights a need for the industry to rethink what drives sustainable success. As the last 18 months has shown, the industry is not recession proof, and the saturation of games designed to extract money from players is not the boom it once was. If you're at Gamescom I hope you're enjoying it, it's a great event. And if you're not here, then have no fear, I'll post some more info and trends that may or may not be obvious another time. Here's a nice pic of a view for those returning to town from the conference centre after a long day. #Gamescom2024 #GamingIndustry #GameDevelopment #RevenueGrowth #Innovation

So, Sensor Tower released a report on the mobile gaming market. Here's what's notable: ✏ After the unpredictable and uncontrollable growth during the pandemic (2019-2021), followed by a decline and "hangover" period (2022-2023), the market is bouncing back! ✏ Growth is projected for 2024, and by 2025, we might see levels matching the "insanely" successful 2021, with the growth continuing rather than collapsing like in 2022. ✏ Midcore and hardcore games are still struggling to buy super-targeted audiences, while casual games have adapted better. ✏ The best adaptation was seen in midcore games that abandoned the "pay or leave" principle, such as Whiteout Survival. ✏ There is a clear trend for midcore and hardcore games to appeal to a broader audience and try to monetize it beyond just relying on 3-4-5 whales in a cohort. ✏ 4X strategies remain the most popular and profitable subgenre in strategy games, generating $7 billion from in-app purchases alone in 2023, not counting ad revenue and, most importantly, money through web shops. Also the report doesn't include last hits in 4x like Last War. "4X strategy games remained the highest-grossing sub-genre, with revenue nearing $7 billion in 2023, accounting for 47% of the overall revenue in the genre." ⚡ This report is very encouraging for us, considering we're targeting a broad audience and the blurred line between pure casual and midcore. Thanks to Whiteout Survival for confirming this trend and support from Legend of Mushroom and Top Heroes with Last War. #game #development #mobile #strategy #casual #midcore #hardcore #hypercasual #hybridcasual #4x #crossplatform #growth #market #revenue #trends

🎮 Level Up! The Real Game of Ads in Mobile Gaming 🎮 As a frequent player on Opa by Beach Bum , I’ve noticed a common trend in mobile gaming today – the strategic use of ads. After each level, you're given two options: 1/Watch a rewarded video to double your winnings 2/Simply claim your reward, which still comes with an interstitial ad While ads are a major revenue source, it does highlight a broader question about user experience in mobile gaming. Are players willing to engage with more ads for the sake of rewards? Or would they prefer a cleaner experience, even at the cost of fewer benefits? For developers, it’s a fine line between monetization and UX. For players, it’s about finding value in what the ads bring to the table. What are your thoughts on ad-based rewards? Do you feel they enhance or disrupt the gaming experience? #MobileGaming #UserExperience #AdStrategy #GamingMonetization #BeachBum #Opa follow our what's app : https://lnkd.in/eZaYZZNi
