Last Friday, we got the crew together to celebrate our new exciting chapter as part of the Qantas group!
We spent the afternoon on the bowling greens, enjoying good food, a few laughs, and some friendly competition.
Thank you to Mary Criniti and Luke Rehbein for making the trip up to sunny Gold Coast to celebrate with us!
It was the perfect way to unwind, catch up, and celebrate this milestone as a team. Here’s to many more exciting moments ahead 🍾🙌🏼🎊

As some of you may know, last week marked the end of my journey at Republic Airways. Leaving such a great organization and team was one of the toughest decisions I've made in my professional life. It was an honor to lead the Republic IT team for the last 6.5 years. We've accomplished some exciting work that has not only transformed Republic Airways but also pushed the industry forward. Our small team has held its own against many larger organizations by being agile and innovative, which has set us apart and prepared us for years of success to come.
I want to take a moment to thank Republic Airways, Leadership In Flight Training Academy (LIFT) and their leadership team for trusting me for the last 6.5 years. I also want to express my gratitude to the team that I had the privilege to work with every day. Their pursuit of excellence pushed me, grew me, and kept me as passionate about the mission as I was on Day 1. To the entire team at Republic – let’s continue to soar to new heights. Thank you for allowing me to fly with you all!
Many people have asked me if things weren't going well or if something happened for me to leave. But those who know me well understand that, despite everything going well and at times even feeling perfect, it was time for me to find the next challenge that could continue to grow me and help me learn a new industry. I'm excited to share where I will be heading soon, but for now, I'm taking a short break and spending time on myself, my family, and my friends.

It’s a odds on favourite that things in life don’t always go as planned, but as businesses it’s how we deal with those opportunities to excel that mark those that stand out.
So yesterday we flew from Manchester to LHR with our grandson for some legoland fun. We checked bags 🤦🏼♂️British Airways unfortunately lost the bags😤… as they appear to have lost a whole plane load of bags 😱✈️but in the whole experience there were some great take aways…
In these situations you realise
(1) you have some real superstars✅ big shout out to the lady who dealt with the issue on the front line- professional, empathetic, genuinely good person in a terrible situation⭐️
(2) that there are always those that are, let’s say… not wanting the opportunity to excel-the lady is still waiting for her management’s leadership and support!
(3) that your situation, no matter how difficult is not as challenging as those of others- those with connections to china, Australia, New Zealand and across Europe- I genuinely wish you well
(4) don’t forget to have fun… (I forgot to take a photo of us slalom racing on the baggage trolley 🤪 to pass the hours of time wasted)
(5) which of your processes stand up to scrutiny and which don’t- British Airways we are still testing yours, but those parts that we experienced and tested yesterday🫨 all I will say is please start a review… they didn’t work and your customer experience felt like torture- and looked like they were torturing your people too
(6) 📣communication in these situations is key… saying bags waiting on a screen is not good communication in my view. It should not have taken 1 hour and 15 minutes for you to realise something wasn’t right!
Let’s see what chapter 2… the recovery goes like🫣
And with that there is a dragon roller coaster with our name on it… have a great day👍
Certainly. Encouraging a fun atmosphere in the workplace can alleviate stress and foster stronger relationships among colleagues. However, it's not always universally beneficial. People vary in how they respond to such empowerment and freedom, with some prone to exploiting it, which can significantly impact productivity. Nonetheless, in certain departments within specific industries like customer experience, such a management style can prove highly effective. Take, for instance, the hospitality, fashion, and media sectors. Moreover, in healthcare and social care, creating a pleasant environment involves engaging patients within their social, physical, and psychological capabilities while ensuring adherence to safeguarding and health & safety protocols. This approach can boost patient satisfaction and expedite recovery.
You should never underestimate the power of having fun at work ❤️

The "Already Proud" campaign for Qantas, the official airline and long-term partner of the Australian Olympic and Paralympic teams, is worth its weight in goosebumps. Kudos to the creative team at Howatson+Company.
The imagery is set to "I Made It" by Tones & I. The Aussie singer-songwriter is a perfect choice.
There are a few elements I love ...
Real Aussie Pride: This campaign nails the true-blue pride we all feel for our athletes. It’s not just about winning; it’s about the grit, the journey, and the Aussie spirit that binds us together.
All-Inclusive Vibes: The ad focuses on eight top athletes, both Paralympians and Olympians, plus everyday people - supporters, friends, and community. It’s like a big, warm group hug from the whole country. The tagline "You've already made us proud" is seen on painted murals in athletes’ hometowns across the country. Nice.
Movie Magic: The visuals are stunning and authentic. It's not just the iconic images of a pub, an Akubra, an outdoor swimming pool, or a footy oval, but the cheers, smiles, and pats on the back. That's Australian.
Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi!

Incredibly proud to share our latest work for Qantas. The only honour greater than representing your country is representing your hometown. As the official airline and long-term partner of the Australian Olympic and Paralympic teams, Qantas celebrates the hometown pride friends, families and communities across the country have for our athletes. No matter what happens in Paris, we’re already proud. Our campaign features eight incredible athletes and captures their emotional farewells before boarding their very special flight. The integrated campaign launched during the Olympic Games opening ceremony, including film, OOH, and hand-painted murals in athletes’ hometowns across the country. In my capacity with Front and Centre Training Solutions , along with our work in the leadership and coaching space.. we work with many organisations on their client experience and customer facing capabilities.
Like many in my network and beyond, I am currently travelling domestically every week, as well as some intermittent trips to the region. I know.. first world problems but also feel if you pay for a service, you should actually get some!
I have been a loyal Qantas platinum member for years. As I type this, I’m sitting on hold for 50 make that 51 mins and counting, calling them back as requested after them cancelling my flight to Sydney next week. Qantas requested I call them, so I have.
The message on repeat “as a platinum frequent flier, you can enjoy a range of exclusive benefits blah blah” . I’ve counted now. I’ve heard this 26 times this call.
Range of exclusive benefits.. EXCEPT ANYONE who can answer the phone on a call Qantas requested!
Has there ever been a brand fall from grace this far? Or a service offering so far from what is advertised?? I know a lot has been said about it recently, but I can’t think of one?
So I’ve got a genuine question to my network that travel regularly domestically in Aus.
Should transfer status and points over to Virgin?
Or is that experience currently just as bad? I honestly would like to know.
Thanks in anticipation. Rant over. I’ve just hung up with no answer.

Shame on you Qantas! For years I've been wandering through the Qantas lounge and watching an extraordinary member of staff go through their paces with an undying commitment of customer service - the consummate professional - the sort of person you would all want on your team. A few weeks ago I saw this person once again going about their work with their incredible dedication and then I felt embarrassed, because never once had I acknowledged their amazing effort and shared with them how they contributed to making my day that little bit better. So I did exactly that. It was warmly received. Not stopping there, I took out the laptop and make a customer complimentary feedback to report to Qantas, formally acknowledging this person's extraordinary contribution to their organisation. My report was duly recognised by Qantas and I received my numbered reference number accordingly. Imagine, my surprise when weeks later (today) I happen to be in the lounge once again and see this member of staff diligently performing their duties. I advised them I had submitted a complimentary report some weeks back and asked them if they had received any formally recognition. The answer was "no". What's tragically sad, is that for some reason this is the answer I expected. Shame on you Qantas - the only value you possess these days are some of the incredible people you have working for you and you clearly fail to put them at centre of what you do. People and culture should be at the heart of everything. Very disappointing. Why is it some organisations seem to place greater importance and focus on disciplining their people rather than, acknowledging, cultivating, growing, nurturing and building. I think there's a lesson for us all.
