Trase - Intelligence for sustainable trade’s Post

🌿 Investing in pasture recovery could make a huge contribution to improving the environmental performance of beef production in Mato Grosso, #Brazil's largest producing state. Around 18% (5.2 million hectares) of its pastures are severely or highly degraded, releasing stored carbon into the atmosphere and contributing to #climatechange. 🐄 JBS, Marfrig and Minerva are the main traders sourcing #beef from regions in Mato Grosso with large concentrations of degraded pastures, while China, Egypt and the #EU are the main export destinations. By using their influence, these companies and their primary markets can drive #sustainable practices and technological advancements in pasture-recovery efforts. 📈 Our analysis shows where to start focusing efforts. Half of all degraded pastures are concentrated in fewer than 50 municipalities, predominantly in the south. Vila Bela da Santíssima Trindade, Porto Esperidião and Itiquira have a large amount of severely degraded pastures. These municipalities are responsible for around 11% of the state’s beef exports and 7% of the degraded pasture area. 🔍 Read the latest insight by Osvaldo Pereira and André Vasconcelos: https://lnkd.in/eMVX37Sh 日本ビジネスシステムズ Marfrig Global Foods Minerva Foods
