You’ve probably got some type of first aid kit at home, with plasters etc in. But have you got a mental health first aid kit? A mental health first aid kit can contain anything that helps you when things are feeling difficult, such as: ✅ a list of warning signs you’re not doing so well ✅ reminders of helpful tools/techniques to use ✅ support line numbers/websites ✅ a list of friends you can reach out to ✅ motivational or comforting quotes ✅ books or films you enjoy ✅ a comforting jumper or blanket ✅ a favourite scent What would you put in your mental health first aid kit? #MentalHealthFirstAid #MentalHealth #wellbeing 📷 IG: laurajaneillustrations

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) equips individuals and organizations with the skills to identify and assist someone who is developing a mental health challenge or is experiencing a mental health crisis such as panic attacks, bouts of depression, difficulties with expatriate adjustment or the after effects of trauma or bereavement. Just as with physical first aid, in all situations the goal is to provide support until appropriate professional help arrives. The central aim is to improve the Mental Health Literacy (MHL) of individuals and organizations, defined as the ability to be sensitively aware and respond with skill to people experiencing mental and emotional challenges, and facilitate appropriate action. Learn more about MHFA in our informational sessions this month, get certified in MHFA or refresh your skills if you’ve taken the course more than 3 years ago. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say they wished they had known how to help someone sooner. Whether it’s a colleague experiencing burnout, a friend battling anxiety, or a loved one struggling with depression… You never know when you’ll be the person who can make a difference. But here’s the thing. You can’t help if you don’t have the tools. That’s why I’m encouraging you to take the step and get certified in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA). It’s not just about learning facts—it’s about being prepared when someone needs you most. I get it. It’s tough. But what if you had the tools to step in with confidence? What if you knew exactly how to recognize when someone is in crisis and how to guide them to the right support? That’s what MHFA training gives you. Take a moment. Think about the people in your life. You could be the one who steps in and makes sure they get the help they need. I’ve trained over 3,000 people in MHFA. Because being there for someone in their darkest moment is a power we all deserve to have.
