I am currently at the Science Podcast Barcamp GanzOhr2024 in Leipzig. One key takeaway for me was the ongoing challenge in social media: balancing communication and reach. As a podcaster in the field of mathematics, I often post only content and no engagement bait. It even feels wrong, weird and spammy. All this algorithm fishing for the viral post. But everybody does it and recommends it. Should every post aim to maximize reach, or is there room for genuine, in-depth communication on say Instagram? Or maybe Instagram is a lost case for math communication anyways? For a podcast like Eigenraum, Mastodon seems to strike the balance just fine, but engagement bait must be very subtle there. Just content is fine and it feels good to focus on math, be subtle, be mysterious: https://lnkd.in/eHTGP4Ri (I can hear my imaginary social media advisor grinding their teeth) People tell me, I must always end with a call to action. So, how do you balance reach and communication in your social media strategy? #GanzOhr2024 #ScienceCommunication #MathematicsPodcast #ContentStrategy #SocialMedia

Happy to share our new podcast website. Inside the website there will be a summary of each episode with main topics summarized, and often we will complement that with some deep dive into the math and some python code as a tutorial to learn and really grasp the concepts of the paper we're discussing. We hope that this will be useful for our community of listeners. In a recent episode of the Rust in Production podcast, PubNub’s CTO, Stephen Blum, shared how Rust has transformed PubNub’s systems with a 5x boost in memory efficiency and performance. Curious to hear more? Listen to Stephen’s insights and explore Rust’s impact on scalability and stability. 🎧👇
Stephen Blum, CTO of PubNub is calling Rust a multi-billion dollar language. In our conversation in the 'Rust in Production' podcast, Stephen explained why Rust is a game-changer for high-performance, scalable systems: - PubNub saw a 5x boost in both memory efficiency and performance when replacing a Python service with Rust - Rust is now the most popular language at PubNub, with all new services being written in it - Rust's memory safety and near-C performance make it attractive for large-scale, mission-critical systems - The Rust compiler's ability to catch common problems early in development increases overall system stability Direct link to that part of our chat: https://lnkd.in/eiN9TKsP #rustlang #podcast #engineering
