A song I can't stand This morning I saw a video talking about the lyrics of this song, because I have never liked it and so I wanted to understand more. This feeling of a place that is welcoming at first, but also the only solution, because it's night and it's the only hotel around. Then you get into it, get lured in by illusion and the portrait of friendliness that just serves the purpose of getting you trapped. There's entertainment and fun along the way, yet it all just ends in you being captured. You can never leave. And the song ends in even deeper unconsciousness. "the last thing I remembered...." so what happened afterwards? Did I lose my memory? And it doesn't end on that. There's a lingering at the end. The suffering gets prolonged by a. ghostly guitar solo and prolongs the painful feeling of being trapped with no escape. What is your impression of the song? Now after these explanations I can understand the meaning and the genius of the song capturing a time, a place, a way of living, a mindset, a generation. Even the guitar solo sounds different now, because I don't feel so trapped. It's actually quite brilliant. Now I wonder: what have I been listening to? The song or my own prejudices and ghosts? What does Hotel California mean for you and how do you like the song? #polymath #systemsthinking #songwriting #mindfulness #eagles #hotelcalifornia #personalgrowth Networking Café are uplifting conversations with polymaths. We positioned an ‘Indie’ hotel as the BEST place to stay in a city by bringing the community inside. Let me explain: A successful Indie hotel is usually an integral part of the community. Staff are knowledgeable about the local area - from a good cup of coffee to a local book store. This is one way the hotel can deliver authentic experiences for guests, helping them become repeat customers. We worked with a hotel that was located amidst an array of cultural institutions that provided a great draw for guests in the summer months: Music Dance Theater Art installations A buzzing neighborhood We learned that while a guest might come for one type of performance (like the symphony), they may not be familiar with some of the other cultural venues in the area. Our solution? → Bring art and culture into the hotel. We created pop-ups on the front porch so that guests could experience all that was available in the community. From actors, to dancers, to musicians… Guests could experience a small part of a production while sipping a cool beverage on the hotel front porch. And the results were amazing: Increased sales at the cultural institutions (guests frequently wanted to see the whole show) An amazing experience for hotel guests The opportunity for the hotel to position itself as ‘the place to stay’ while visiting It was a win for all involved. Have you stayed at a hotel that’s done something like this before?

💭 Why Do We Celebrate Festivals? As I was heading to purchase groceries today, I noticed many decorated items being sold for the festival season. It made me ask myself a very simple yet interesting question: What is the purpose of festivals? The obvious reasons are to preserve culture and celebrate spiritual significance, but what else? 🌸🎉 I could come up with these : Foster Community – Festivals bring people together, strengthening bonds. Provide Joy – They offer a break from routine and bring happiness through celebrations. Mark Life’s Cycles – Celebrating harvests, seasons, and milestones. Boost the Economy – Festivals drive tourism and business. Commemorate Events – Some honor important figures or historical moments. What do festivals mean to you? 🎊 #Festivals #Culture #Community #Celebration

Trust me, I’ve seen it happen time and time again: ❌ 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐬: DIY-ing your trip? You’re probably headed to the same crowded beaches everyone else is. Meanwhile, you’re missing out on that secret rum shack, locals-only jerk stand, or hidden beach bar with the best sunset views — places I know about because I’ve been and have great local connections on so many islands. ❌ 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬: Booking a flight and hotel is just step one. The real magic’s in the details — like reservations at that stunning beachside restaurant, or having that great local guide who makes the excursion so much more enjoyable. You don’t want to go home with FOMO because you didn’t plan for all of those little things that really take a trip to the next level. ❌ 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐯𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐬: Think you can only save when you book online? Think again! I have access to special perks and pricing that has saved my clients thousands in the past. Once I know your budget I’m serving up recommendations that truly will make that budget work for you! And a bonus? ❌ 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐬: There are some GREAT events in the Caribbean if you’re looking to go off-resort. Food festivals, Carnival, jazz festivals and other events. If you’re not looking at the local calendar to see when some of these events are happening, you’re missing out! The best way to avoid these mistakes? Send me a DM 📩 and I’ll help you plan, or book a time to chat at the link in my bio! . . . --- #travelplanning #TravelMistakes #CaribbeanTravel #LocalConnections #IslandExploration #BudgetFriendly #SecretSpots #LocalGuides #CaribbeanTravelTips #CaribbeanTravelExpert #Cuba #traveldreams
