When a company desires to grow, tools are important. Most often though, I've seen tools employed at the expense of BELIEFS. Meaning provocative, proven, and highly beneficial concepts. Need proof? Go to YouTube and find videos about your favorite tool. THEN ... take a look at how many views Simon Sinek's "Golden Circle" has. ** 19 million and counting ** And Sinek's simple yet profound concept has set the course for exponential growth for hundreds, if not thousands of organizations. So when I say that it is the Front End of the business design process, the "Tip of the Spear," that's most important, now you know why. Dogma comes before tools ... or anything else. You have to be the *only* thing. What's your contrarian view? 🔍 Data is good, but its real value lies in how you interpret it. Think big picture and spot the patterns. 💅 Strategy is 50% substance, 50% style. We spent a significant amount of time working with them to build a clear decision tree on what business to say yes to and what business to say no to. I spent countless hours studying Business Development - despite that Marketing is my true expertise. Here are 3 ingredients that will turn your Business Development into a life-enhancing asset: 1. Strategic Thinking 🧠 The number one thing you need from Strategic Thinking is foresight. Secondarily, you need creativity. Combine both for innovative solutions and growth strategies. 2. Effective Communication 🗣 On the other hand, you want to avoid interactions where your message is irrelevant. The classic example is pitching a product to a customer who doesn't need it. Use empathy to understand their needs, and then tailor your message accordingly. 3. Proactive Action 🏃♀️ Business Development is dynamic, so Proactive Action is very important. Start by identifying opportunities, and then work on seizing them until you achieve your goals. Don’t procrastinate, but also don’t rush into decisions without thorough analysis.
