Firsthand Revelations and Thoughts during the second week of my Internship: 1. Knowing how to ask questions is an art. There's a lot of difference between asking "Do you like our product?" and "How do you like our product?" Unless we have established it to a certain degree that the respondent likes our product to some extent, we might not get an accurate answer to the latter as it might create a pressure of answering even if there's nothing they like about it. 2. I used to think, "Why should I smile looking at someone I don't know?" No. Smile always works. A "Hello" smile. ALWAYS. 3. I wonder if we are all associating purple color with chocolate. What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you see a purple color packet? If that's Dairy Milk by Cadbury UK then imagine how successfully they have positioned their products in our minds (like it happens to me! Also because I love eating chocolates). 4. Retail stores are an important part of our grocery shopping routine. So much that, when we think of "buying", we think of the scenario of asking for the product in the retail store in our minds. How long until there's change in this 'autopilot' thought? 5. I spoke to few people who belong to the 'Millennials' category who described the below package as 'Clumsy-ish' which, the 'Gen Z' referred to as 'Attractive'. Initially, I aimed for roles in the sports or luxury sectors. But life had other plans, leading me to an internship in the food industry. And you know what? P&G Summer Internship - 10 weeks of learning about BRAND BUILDING Last Friday was my last day at Procter & Gamble as a Brand Management Intern for PANTENE. This wasn’t my first internship, but it was my first in Brand Management—a field I've always been passionate about. So, this internship is a pretty big milestone for me. The amount I’ve learned in these 10 weeks is something I couldn’t have found anywhere else. Here are some key takeaways: 1. Start with the WHO, not the HOW: It's all about understanding our consumers. Everything we do should be grounded in their needs, wants, and behaviors. 2. Category analysis isn't the ultimate guide: Sustainable growth comes from driving category growth based on consumer insights, not just following what the market is doing. 3. Be smart with data: Use impactful, actionable data points instead of overwhelming stakeholders with too much information. Beyond the learning, what makes me want to come back here someday are the amazing people I got to work with.
