I had a transformative two-month summer internship with ITC Limited, where I delved into the fast-paced realm of marketing and sales. One of my primary projects was to encourage retailers to adopt the Unnati app, a task that initially appeared simple but revealed complex challenges during field visits. These experiences sharpened my problem-solving skills and taught me that effective digital adoption hinges on strong customer relationships and a deep understanding of retailer needs. Through my fieldwork, I observed that actual sales outcomes for various SKUs often differed from my projections, largely due to regional preferences, customer demographics, and product familiarity among retailers. This underscored the importance of a customized sales approach and ongoing market assessment. Key actions I took included leading retailer training sessions, communicating promotional offers effectively, and conducting thorough market analyses. I also learned how distribution networks play a crucial role in app adoption. In addition to supporting the Unnati app, I actively promoted ITC’s Bingo Namkeen, driving its market penetration. This internship has given me valuable insights into digital transformation and customer engagement within the FMCG sector, and I’m eager to apply these learnings in my future career.
