One of my Year 11s inspired my latest blog for Future First by reminding me that young people are trying to see their future selves in “a job” often without any idea of what that actually might look like. It is vital, particularly for neurodivergent young people, that they are given the opportunity to see what workplaces actually look, sound and feel like. Maybe technology is the key to making this feasible for younger children to keep their ideas broad throughout Primary and Secondary school? #augmentedreality #virtualreality #workexperience

Career talk with 4th-8th graders from Socorro ISD was a success! What was made clear is that it’s crucial to start discussing the range of opportunities available to students, especially in fields that will be vital in the coming decades. Given the rapidly evolving job market, especially with the rise of green jobs and roles focused on climate and sustainability, it’s clear that today’s students need to be aware of these emerging fields. The workforce of the future will not only require technical expertise but also a broad range of skills and perspectives, including those focused on thought leadership, policy, and justice. Integrating discussions about climate and technology careers into career showcases can help prepare students for these future opportunities. It’s also essential to emphasize the importance of diversity in these fields, as marginalized communities often face the greatest challenges from climate change and thus have a vital role in shaping solutions and policies. After Saturday's career showcase, it was made apparent that Peek Counsel can play a pivotal role in developing a climate career pipeline for students in our community, for our voices are needed more than ever in those spaces.

The results of 2021-22 graduate outcomes are in! 15 months after graduating all students who study at UK universities are asked to complete the graduate outcomes survey. It includes questions about the type of work or study they are doing, how much they are earning, whether they feel happy and fulfilled in their work or study and the impact their professional training year has had on graduate job offers.
