College and career counseling is particularly important for low-income students because they usually attend schools with the fewest resources and they tend to come from families and backgrounds in which few people have gone to college and can act as mentors. Early College helps students by reducing anxiety, familiarizing them with the college experience, provide pathways to help inform them about careers and determine whether or not college is a good investment for them. It reaches students who would not have these opportunities and brings the academics to them in their high school classrooms. #earlycollegewins #careercounseling

This article by Jeremy Podany explores the shifting landscape of career services in higher education over the last couple years. He writes that the shift is driven by factors such as rising costs of higher education, increasing demand for career readiness, and changing perceptions of the value of a college degree. The aim is to provide a broadly applicable discussion of managing one’s career after graduation. The panelists will share their career journeys and the insights they have gained. The event will be structured around the following student outcomes: Navigating nonlinear career paths, Discovering professional interests, and Setting realistic career expectations.
