Embarking on a warehouse conveyor project often means your integrator is entrusting engineering and controls work to subcontractors, which can often come with a set of challenges. Below, we uncover common hurdles – from communication gaps to differing work methods – that can impact project success. To learn about how Storage Solutions’ in-house engineering and controls team avoids these challenges, click the link below!

Most of us have no privilege to choose which equipment that you familiar about to be installed at your current company. the worst of it, the maintenance policy come very late after the plant has been operated a few weeks-month-year after its commisioning. why it happen? i see it repeating ! from what i see, it happens when there is a disconnection from every phase of the project. when a company decide to invest in a new or take over a plant, they must have a calculation before, during an idea phase. How is the market? How much budget need? How the supply chain to feed raw materials and sell the product? the next phase is the front end engineering design. continue with the EPC. next to O-M. as you can see, the maintenance vocabulary just introduce in the fourth phase of the project 😌. then how do you handle it, since the O-M is the longest period in the project phase before the plant to be decommissioned? tell your opinion in the comments and lets discuss 😁. *pict from the internet taken during incident

🌟 Attention all equipment manufacturers! 🌟 In the diverse world of engineering and construction, clarity is key to successful collaboration. I’m reaching out to suggest a small but significant change to the way we label equipment: Let’s start using “inlet” and “outlet” instead of “supply” and “return”. Why this change? The terms “supply” and “return” are often interpreted differently across our industries. For example, engineers typically label based on water temperatures, whereas contractors might view it from the equipment perspective, leading to confusion about which is which. This discrepancy can cause miscommunication, errors in installation, and operational inefficiencies. By standardizing labels to “inlet” and “outlet”, we can enhance understanding across all stakeholders, ensuring everyone is on the same page and our projects run smoother. Let’s embrace this change for greater efficiency and fewer misunderstandings. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and hopefully seeing this new standard adopted widely! #Engineering #Manufacturing #Construction #InnovationInIndustry

While we can resolve most issues in the office, it is sometimes necessary to visit the site. This could involve meeting with all stakeholders to quickly determine a good path forward or inspecting the situation on the vessel, as conditions may differ significantly from the provided drawings or in cases where drawings are missing. By going on-site, a lot of time can be saved as the actual situation becomes immediately clear, allowing the as-built condition to be used for further project execution. Additionally, on-site experience is very beneficial for engineers, enabling them to develop the most practical solutions. 🚀 Mastering the Planning Process in Engineering Projects 🚀 Hey Planning Engineers! Let's dive into the essential stages of our projects, ensuring everything runs smoothly and on schedule. Here's a breakdown of the key phases using the example of a project involving Reverse Osmosis (RO) & Flow Control Valves (FCV) 🚰🔧: 🔴 Bid/Evaluate/Award of Contract: 🔴 RFQ (Request for Quotation) 📄: Invite suppliers to bid for providing products or services. 🔴 TBE (Technical Bid Evaluation) 🛠️: Assess bids based on technical specifications. 🔴 CBE (Commercial Bid Evaluation) 💼: Evaluate bids based on commercial terms. 🔴 Issue of Purchase Order 📝: Formal issuance of the purchase order to the selected vendor. 🔵 Manufacturing and Delivery of RO & FCV: Engineering 🧑🔬: Design and engineering phase to ensure technical compliance. 🔴 Procurement 🛒: Sourcing and purchasing materials and components. 🔴 Fabrication 🏭: The actual manufacturing process. 🔴 Final Testing (FAT) ✅: Ensure equipment meets all specified requirements. 🔴 FOB (Free on Board) 🚢: Supplier's responsibility ends, buyer's begins. 🔴 Delivered at Site 📦: Transport and deliver equipment to the project site. Close Out Report 📊: Documentation and reporting on project completion. ❌ Backup Raw Water Intake Pumps (Cancelled): Sometimes, projects or specific tasks may get canceled due to various reasons. It's crucial to document these changes and adjust plans accordingly. ✨ Why These Phases Matter: Understanding these phases helps us maintain control over project timelines, costs, and quality. Each step ensures that we meet the necessary requirements and deliver successful outcomes. 📢 Call to Action: Ready to enhance your planning skills?
