Celebrating birthdays within our company holds a special significance, fostering a sense of community and belonging among our team members. These gatherings are more than just a moment to enjoy cake and refreshments; they represent our commitment to recognizing and valuing each individual's contributions to our collective success. By acknowledging these personal milestones, we create a positive and supportive work environment where employees feel appreciated and motivated. Birthday celebrations also provide an opportunity for team bonding, allowing colleagues to connect on a personal level beyond their professional roles. This camaraderie enhances collaboration, communication, and overall morale, contributing to a more cohesive and productive team. Furthermore, these events reflect our company culture of inclusivity and care, demonstrating that we value our employees not just as workers, but as individuals with unique lives and stories. In essence, our internal birthday celebrations are a small yet impactful way to show gratitude, build stronger relationships, and maintain a vibrant, engaged workforce. They remind us that our greatest asset is our people, and by celebrating together, we strengthen the sense of unity and purpose that drives our success. #CompanyCulture #TeamSpirit #EmployeeAppreciation #WorkplaceWellness #TeamBonding #Inclusivity #EmployeeEngagement

December is here so now felt like a good time to share some ground rules you may want to consider putting in place before the Christmas party ⬇️🎅🎄 Christmas is a great time for everyone to let their hair down and have some fun together but as a HR consultant I want to remind you are the business owner that whether you’re in your usual work place or you have organised your party to be held somewhere else, it’s your responsibility to keep everyone safe..... in short, you’re also liable for any acts of discrimination, harassment or victimisation your employees that might take place at your Christmas event. So, before any festivities, please consider these things: ✅ Remind employees that you want people to have fun and that its your way of say thank you for their hard work this year. ✅ Make it known that any social event you organise is technically an ‘extension of the workplace.’ ✅ Remind everyone attending that appropriate workplace behaviour still applies, anything inappropriate won’t be tolerated. ✅ Make it clear by giving examples of what unacceptable behaviour looks like, including what could be considered as sexual harassment. ✅ If alcohol will be available at your event, remind everyone about drinking responsibly and remind that no-one should drive to work or attend work intoxicated the next day if they are scheduled to work. If you’d like help drafting some communications to make sure you’re covered, get in touch! #ChristmasParty #EmployeeSafety #WorkplaceCulture #HRBestPractices

Today I'm heading off to a Christmas party with one of the partners I work with🎄 There is a surprise activity, and lunch and some post lunch drinks. It's going to be a lovely day but it got me thinking about "work" end of year/Christmas parties. Many years while in human resources leadership roles, I was lucky enough to be the 'police' with people attending these parties 🙄 Not what I had envisaged when I embarked on my human resources career. This took to the form of: 👉 Reminding people about our code of conduct, and related policies like anti-bullying and anti-harassment 👉 Giving examples of what constitutes appropriate behaviour at a work event, and what does not. 👉 Thinking about, and ensuring that people got home safely when they have been drinking. 👉 Thinking of how events can be inclusive because booze filled, raucous parties are not for everyone. On a number of occasions, I have removed myself from such social occasions so I could be ‘neutral’ party, should I wake up to post party complaints, that would need to investigated. Deck the halls with sexual harassment complaints #SoFestive I have worked in organisations where Christmas parties have ended at a strip club. I have always been of the view that whatever employees do in their own time is their business, but extending the Christmas party into the bar across the road, where women take their clothes off for money, is not within the code of conduct of any company I have worked for. Sometimes I think we are making progress in building inclusive organisations. Other times I come back to earth with a thud. Have you got any good end of year/Christmas dodgy party stories? #Christmas #YearEnd #Celebrate

We’re partnering with ACT by Laura Currer to make bad behaviour at Christmas parties a thing of Christmas past 👻 Mistletoe isn’t consent. Alcohol isn’t an excuse. And calling this out isn’t ‘woke nonsense’. Because if ALMOST HALF of women are considering not going to their work’s Christmas party because of what’s happened in the past, or what may happen in the future, we’ve got a problem That’s why we’re calling on employers and male allies to pledge their support and #SayNoToMistletoe and EVERYTHING it represents this party season – the creeping, the leering, the pushing boundaries, the harassment. No more. ↘️ Employers, HR, or the party committee Download your free guide to make sure your Christmas party is safe and inclusive ↘️ Employees, individuals, and allies Download your guide to get clear on how you can be an active part in making Christmas parties fun for everyone Get involved: https://lnkd.in/e7h7us-J It’s on ALL of us to redefine Christmas party culture. It’s that time of year again – End of year parties are around the corner! These celebrations are a fantastic way to recognise your team’s hard work. But to keep the good vibes rolling, it’s important to have a few guidelines in place. Before the festivities begin, make sure your policies are up-to-date and clear on: -Code of Conduct -Workplace Health and Safety -Bullying, Harassment, and Discrimination -Drugs and Alcohol -Grievance Procedures When you send out the party invites, include a friendly reminder about expected behaviours and what’s covered by the company (like whether transport is provided). Set a clear end time for the official event and let everyone know that anything after that is off the clock. Need assistance updating your policies? Effective HR are here to assist you in making your end-of-year celebrations a success without any stress. Let’s ensure your party is fun, festive, and fabulous! #partytime #workchristmasparty #CelebrateTogether #workplacefun #mariahisout #holidaycheer #itsbeginningtolookalotlikechristmas #Mistletoe #jingleandmingle #tistheseasontobejolly #elfontheofficeshelf #hroutsourcing #hrconsulting #effectivehr

With Christmas or end of year parties in full flow, it’s a great time to come together and celebrate everything from 2024. 💫 However with an HR hat on there are hints and tips to hopefully avoid any fall-out: ✅ Before the party, put a reminder out on expected behaviours to ensure all attendees are aware of the company’s policy on behavioural expectations at work events. If you’re on a site where people aren’t always on email, think how else they can get these messages – such as a start of shift briefing 🔉 🍵 Be inclusive: remember that lots of people don’t drink alcohol for many reasons – whether it be religious reasons, experience with dependency, health reasons – or for something they don’t feel the need to justify! Accept that and keep company paid drinks to a minimum 🍷 🏭 When at a work party, the company is still liable - as an employer you have a duty of care to your employees ☑️ Employers should ensure there is a specific anti-harassment policy in writing which clearly communicates the organisations zero-tolerance approach towards harassment of any form, but particularly sexual harassment given the recent changes. Alongside this, managers should also be given adequate training about potential risks and what 'reasonable steps' could be taken to prevent sexual harassment occurring ❎ Some people just don’t want to attend, and that’s ok 🤫 Is there a quiet area for those that may need it 🚕 Have you thought about safety and how people get home? 🍺 If you have a drugs & alcohol / substance misuse policy, ensure people are reminded about it. For example you may want to encourage people to book the next day as holiday if they plan to have a few drinks 🥘 Cater for all dietary needs including intolerances and allergies etc 🧭 If any allegations are raised, investigate promptly. As we know from recent high profile cases it could be some time after the event that things are revealed Although these reminders can cause some 🙄, it is far better to be prepared before the fun starts. Now that’s out of the way, hopefully your end of year parties are a great success and you can come together and celebrate together! 😍 If you need any HR support at this time of year please reach out.
