As the River Institute's 30th year comes to an end, we are reflecting on some great memories for #ThrowbackThursday! This Thursday we are going back in time to 2018 when Dr. Leigh McGaughey first joined the team at the River Institute and launched the Great River Rapport Ecosystem Health Report! The public workshops and surveys mentioned in this article were instrumental in informing the selection of the project's 35 ecological indicators. The project has come to encompass more than ever imagined back in 2018. Learn more about the Great River Rapport 👉 https://loom.ly/pF2XMRM

The environment plays a crucial role in our existence and survival, encompassing elements such as the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the ecosystems that sustain life. As we pursue economic growth and utilize Earth's resources, it's imperative to ensure this is done without harming our environment. prioritizing the economy over the environment is like trying to hold your breath while counting money. This is a reminder that a healthy planet is essential for our well-being, and it relies on our stewardship. Let's take action for nature and humanity every day. AUTUMN-WINTER 26-27 CONSUMERS THE ECO DEMYSTIFIERS NATURE Faced with the air of post-truth and skepticism about authorities and their commitment, and the emergence of the commodification of spirituality, this archetype advocates a protopian approach and rejects the ideas of an all-powerful, spiritual earth associated with the new New Age faiths. They have a deconstructed approach to their relationship with the environment in favor of symbiotic living. Focused on research and science, they denigrate the false spiritual while respecting the traditions and cultures they encounter. They are the anti-Burning Man and anti-Coachella par excellence. STRATEGY Promote the diversity of cultures and know-how, enabling the development and preservation of traditions. Ensure accessibility of CSR objectives with its audience, as well as not being exclusionary in its branded ecological solutions. Embrace new, inclusive narratives with regard to accessible ecology. #AccessibleEcology #InclusiveSustainability #CulturalRespect

I want to try something radical. Money shouldn't exclude us from experiences, and value can be shared in other ways. I'm now offer eco-coaching on the basis of conscious participation. You can pay what you feel like, based on your means. For as many sessions as you want. Eco-coaching is about improving your wellbeing and that of the planet. By allowing others to help, we open up to new opportunities and ways of being, that heal the blockages we hold inside of us, and the wounds that we have inflicted on the Earth. I have the courage to offer all I can, and to not let money guide the way I help people. Do you have the courage to see how I could help? #participativeeconomy #ecocoaching #climatechange #sustainability #ecologicaltransition #ecology #wellbeing

🔍🌀 FLUX Review Lens of the Week: Care-ing Capacity In ecology, “carrying capacity” is the number of living things a habitat can support without environmental degradation. Perhaps we're hitting a moment of “care-ing capacity.” The protracted poly-crises is stretching us to the edges of what we can care about (and for) before hitting personal and societal degradation. How much can we hold? How can stretch our fields of care safely? How might we renew our capacity? Especially in light of inadequate safety nets, underinvested care infrastructure, media amplification, and frayed social fabric. When in doubt, look to nature. A useful metaphor for our moment. 🔍 Grateful to the flux gang for honing this lens.
