How you treat people in the hiring process says EVERYTHING. (A two-part story about being people first) Last year, I wrote a few words about how I hate that I can no longer personally respond to every applicant. It's a part of the job I loved and took very seriously. Last month, we even had an applicant from 11 years ago write about it!! 🤯 "11 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘰, 𝘉𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘒𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘍𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴 𝘓𝘢𝘣, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥'𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦. We received 1,059 applicants for a single design role. 🤯 These are people taking the time to share their desire to join our mission. Fourteen years in, I'm still overwhelmed with gratitude reading their words. I also feel a touch of guilt, knowing I cannot express that personally. Thankfully, there are people on my team who can! Shout out to Kellie Groover, SHRM-CP, and Natalie Kent for leading this latest round. Check out this snippet of what Natalie shared with the Focus Lab team in Slack this past week: "𝘜𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘬𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬. This is not easy to do... It's the right thing to do. --- To all the applicants of our latest hiring round, I want to take this moment to thank you. Seriously, thank you for your interest and effort in what likely feels like a relentless, exhausting, and thankless job hunt in this crazy market. We at Focus Lab see you and appreciate you. 🙏 🙏 🙏

Dear Candidate, If you didn't receive feedback from the hiring manager that doesn't mean your skill sets are weak. It may mean that- 1. The position is on hold 2. They internally hired someone. No need to blame yourself each time you face rejection.🙅🏻♀️ So, It's not always YOU. It can be THEM as well.🫵🏻 Do not Disappoint and Demotivate. Keep Applying 🌈 What are your thoughts ?? #thoghtsoftheday #postoftheday #linkedinpost #keepapplying

I experienced my “true impact” several times in multiple roles, but a poignant one most recently was meeting Jess Horwitz at an Ready. Set. Pivot. event last week. While doing some speed networking, I discovered that my messaging as the talent (recruiting) manager for marketing roles in 2016 attracted her to a position at our mutual organization. She had a great career there and is now taking a new step. Meanwhile, it solidifies I know exactly what messaging works to attract talent in nearly every career/industry and the experience I have to lead Talent Marketing teams is vast, relevant and pioneering. When during a networking session you literally hear the words, “You changed my life.” It’s powerful. We also discovered we share the same birthday! 🎂 Organizations must take a long-game approach to talent, because the short game (without a talent pipeline strategy) will enhance your churn and burn reputation and drive those pesky indirect costs on your income statement higher. #talentmanagement #executiveleaders #incomestatement #CostperHire #wednesdaywisdom

Good share Dalton Rose!! Last night I facilitated a meeting with our Operations Managers to discuss their DAPs, Mentors and Networking. Your post, this morning, summarizes what we talked about last night. I challenged the group to review their Linkedin profile and use that to help build their DAPs. Hooah! RLTW! #HireaVet #HireVeterans #Veterans
Last week, I was asked to join a team call for one of our Talent Acquisition teams at Target to discuss building your brand and how to use LinkedIn effectively. While I do not think i'm an expert at social media or LinkedIn branding, I was able to share my journey from using social media as a United States Marine Corps Recruiter to now as a recruiter for Target. What started 7 years ago as making videos and posting content on Facebook and Instagram to attract and retain talent for the world's finest fighting force has now lead to a professional platform where i'm able to talk to people about the best team in retail. I'm thankful to have the autonomy to post what's important to me and to also talk through mental health, the bad days, my career journey, and of course pizza!

💙Thanks Kevin 💙 *When your colleague tells you to “make a LinkedIn post that stands out”... and now I’m using a video of him from Zoom to do it.* 😂 As a Talent Acquisition Partner, I’m always looking for ways to *keep things fresh*—whether it’s finding top-tier talent or coming up with creative ways to get people to see what I see about NIE Networks - that it’s amazing! Big thanks to Kevin McDermott for giving me homework *during* our meeting. I guess this is what true teamwork looks like? 😂😂 But seriously, when it comes to recruitment, I love adding a dash of personality to the process—it would be a pretty dull process if I didn’t! *Looking for a new role or maybe just want to learn more about our culture, process, benefits?* Let’s connect and chat! I promise not to use your picture in my next post 🙊 #TalentAcquisition #Hiring #RecruitmentWithAChuckle #StandOutMoments #LinkedInLaughs

What does everyone want more of and there never seems to be enough of? Yeah, you guessed it – time! ⏰ At Sixty Eight People we understand the value of time, which is why we adopt a two-stage process with our partners. This approach not only helps us to strategically understand their businesses but also to grasp the culture and behaviours of their next hires. When we engage, we always share the time and aim to give some back, which is why we utilize shortlists. Our retention rate speaks for itself: 90% of our candidates have been promoted or retained in their roles. It goes to show that this is time well invested. Part of this time is also spent immersing ourselves into the brand so we can give honest and genuine feedback of a partners business and why its a great team to be a part of! Here I am with the vibe queen herself Tracy Chau. Ready to save time and make strategic hires? Let's chat! 🌟 [email protected] 07904057385
