One door closes, another opens At the beginning of June earlier this year, I made the announcement that Blendily retail stores would close. As I went through the process of closing/shuttering operations in Portland. I experienced a flood of emotions, some positive, but also of bitterness. What needs to be different, for a concept such as Blendily to work? I've observed lots of quit letters from founders. Long-winded accounts that show humanity and emotion, or very vague light 'that's a wrap!' type announcements. I thought that if I had to write a quit letter, I would try to land somewhere in the middle. But the thing is, I wasn’t quitting. I AM NOT quitting. Curtain call botanic kitchen #1 in PDX. I decided botanic kitchen #2 in SEA would remain open for now. Will there be any more kitchens? That remains to be seen. We will continue to offer our best-selling Made in Cascadia line of products, we will still be adding new offerings imbued with Pacific Northwest spirit. Other plans for events, to teach, to write, to create, are still brewing. Blendily operates seed-to-soul botanic kitchens all over the World, connecting nature to people, purpose & place. Our mission is to spread botanic magic. It has a nice ring to it, still! Our team is hiring, we are regrouping. We are looking for business partners, collaborators, and amplifiers! Please consider joining our splendid squad, spread the word on our offerings, and cheer the evolution of the brand. Our Anniversary sale is the perfect occasion to restock on favorites, and share some Blendily magic with loved ones! Use the Code Blendily11 for 30% Sitewide with FREE US Continental Shipping. Thanks for reading, and thanks to everyone following the Blendily journey. Be Well, Ivy Chuang #femalefounder #founderjourney #entrepreneur #thefutureisfloral

Still in shock ! but immensely proud of the HERD that have supported MR CHRISTIAN over the last two years. You know who you all are ! Needless to say this recognition is indeed another pivot and turning point for the brand, the vision and forward direction as we head into 2025. I knew the journey was going to be long, arduous full of wins and losses good and bad days. Anyone will tell you the path to the dream is never an easy one. Many gates get shut on you as you travel. Our farm gate to join us is always open and we welcome those who want to support, engage and join a new moovement in fashion. It is time for change within the fashion industry and we all know the established brands are never going to implement it, the shareholders simply won't allow it effect the bottom line profits and the kind of changes needed are simply too costly for most established brands to even justify. We have achieved everything to date by working collaboratively without expectation big wins or rewards, and everyone is in the same field when they join our HERD, but we know and that together we can change things for the better. Sustainable Entrepreneur of the year Awward is not a win for MR CHRISTIAN this is a win for our communities, the countryside the fashion industry and most importantly our FARMERS ! And that has been seen by the Great British Entrepreneur Awards & Community If ever there was a time support our FARMING industry through fashion the time is now! The government land GRABS must stop! We are here to serve and we want to show what can be achieved by working together. We want to give back to the people and communities that clothe us, feed us, make us look good, look after our wellbeing and look after the land from which all of this happens. Even slapping "Beef tallow" on your faces ladies seems to be the in trend these days. Must be all that pure natural collagen. #farmers #countrylife #fashion #ethics #brand #narrative #marketing #leather #leathergoods #madeinengland #heritage #tradtion #culture #equestrian #polo #horseriding #equine #beef #cattle

🍂 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵: 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗤𝟰 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 Klocke Estate Distillery Michael and I had the pleasure of visiting the stunning Klocke Estate in Hudson, NY, which recently opened its doors this August. We were fortunate enough to meet the owners, tour their beautifully crafted distillery, and learn about their vision for creating various types of brandy. One moment that truly stood out was hearing them say, "𝙄𝙛 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙬, 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣?" — an inspiring reminder that dreams are worth chasing. The view of the vineyards, where they are just beginning to grow their own grapes, was a metaphor for their journey and growth. During our tour, they were receiving a plum delivery for their next venture in brandy making—another dream in the making. As we discussed their inspiring path, it made me reflect on my own achievements and the dreams I continue to work towards. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀' 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴. 💡 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗤𝟰: • Cash is King: Ensure your financials are in order as you pivot into the new quarter. • Efficiency Matters: Explore new tools that can support your business as we wrap up the year. • Plan Ahead: Use this moment of reflection to strategize and ensure success into 2024. As we enjoy these final moments of summer, now is the time to set the groundwork for a strong finish. 💬 What dreams are you working towards? The Garden of Eva is three-years-old today. Happy birthday! 🎂 It has been a wild ride. The highs are very high and the lows, quite low. 😂 Getting listed in Whole Foods Market UK and Selfridges were huge achievements. Winning 2 stars from Great Taste Awards for our pickled watermelon rind was affirming. Having Honest Burgers Ltd, the UK’s biggest gourmet burger chain, use our chow chow for a monthly special in all 40 locations was incredible! Ours outsold other monthly burger specials at that time. Winning my pitch day at the Farm and Deli Shop Show was encouraging and validating, challenges notwithstanding. Struggling to find people to help me sell at farmers' markets is stressful. Having the distributor call because jars arrived broken wasn’t great. Discovering that the back label on the chili-watermelon jar was wrong and had to be re-printed at additional cost was a drag. Getting plantar fasciitis in my right foot from being on my feet too many nights at 10pm at Mission Kitchen making pickles was a downer. The business is nowhere near where I want it to be! That’s discouraging. And then I remind myself that I have been building the business by myself as a divorced mother of a teenage son who was at a demanding IB Diploma school (shout out to Halcyon London International School) and needed my time and support. I was working a full-time job. Thanks to a generous angel investor, I wound down my full-time job in the fall of 2023. More dedicated time to The Garden of Eva happened just in January of this year! The current challenge is that my manufacturer sold her business and the new owner isn’t working with companies that use glass jars. Guess who uses glass jars? 😖 So I’m scrambling to find another manufacturer. Funnily, I feel a sense of peace. There have been so many pressures, problems, and issues to address that I’m finally developing a tougher skin! Grit. Resilience. Stamina. I’m working on all of them. There’s a long way to go, but I’ve come a long way. By the grace of God and a lot of grueling work, The Garden of Eva is still standing. Support from family, friends, mentoring programs, and accelerators have been critical to helping me deal with the challenges of being a founder. I wouldn’t be pressing ahead without the pep talks, kicks in the pants, wisdom, and great ideas. Thanks to all of you!! The vision is clearer and sharper, bigger and more compelling. It’s not just about bringing the world’s lesser-known and -- in my view -- under-appreciated food cultures to new consumers. It’s about employment for women. It’s about highlighting women cooks from these cultures. It’s about making a contribution to lowering Scope 1-3 emissions in the broken food system, which plays a big role in climate change. Of course, at a fundamental level, it's about making people smile when they eat food made by The Garden of Eva. I’m looking forward to seeing how year 4 unfolds. Let’s go!! #ffr #femalefounder #womenentrepreneurs

It’s officially been one month since the doors to my brick-and-mortar store Grapevine Galleria closed. What an adventure that was! I’ve been feeling a little lost the last month without the store. Yet, I’m slowly getting the online shopping going! 🙀 My motivations on Monday have shifted since closing the brick-and-mortar. Today, what motivated me to get going was mailing orders from weekend online sales. The sales motivate me to keep adding inventory to my “closet.” https://lnkd.in/gKxAGyac 🗣 I’m available for hire to speak about being a brick-and-mortar store owner that not only navigated the mandatory shut-down during the pandemic but fought cancer for three years—and now, I’m navigating a changing economy. I also have the experience under my belt of making the hard decision to shutter a business in a rural community (I believe small businesses are the lifeblood to rural commerce and keeping dollars earned local). When the building I rented was purchased by new owners, I did not find the terms of the new lease to be realistically conducive to the longevity of the business and downtown gentrification efforts. I had to walk away. I have stories, nuggets of wisdom, and experience. I am available for hire as a speaker in the industry of rural business. I am now selling Grapevine Galleria inventory on Posmark. Check out our growing store. Stay tuned as more and more inventory is added during July. #speaker #brickandmortar #retail #ruralbusiness #experience #leasing #poshmark #grapevinegalleria #shenacollins #onlinesales #poshmarkseller #entrepreneur #bossbabe #lovetoshare #mondaymotivation
