1.4 billion people use ChatGPT on a regular basis. This is a great article from Neil Patel on , "How to Rank Your Website on ChatGPT". https://lnkd.in/e7hMduSH Take aways: Brand mentions – how many times was the brand, or product mentioned around the web? The more often it was mentioned we found the more likely ChatGPT recommended it. Reviews – not only do reviews matter, but the more the better as well as the rating. So if you find a lot of people reviewing your company whether it is on your own site or on sites like Trust Pilot, Amazon, or even BBB, it helps (assuming the reviews are good in general). Relevancy – there was a big correlation between the keywords in the question we asked ChatGPT and the products and companies it recommended. What we found is those keywords in almost all cases existed on web pages around the web mentioned the product and service mentioned. Age – was the product or company recommended old or new? We found that older products or companies were recommended more often. Recommendations – were other websites recommending the product or company? What’s funny is a lot of the suggestions that ChatGPT provided were pulled from sites that break down things like “the best credit cards for college students”. You know, those sites that list out products and make money from affiliate commissions? Funny enough it seems as if those sites are influencing the recommendations on ChatGPT even though they are really based on which company is paying the most affiliate commissions versus actually having the best offering. Authority – What’s the social following of the companies recommended? What’s the domain authority? What type of sites are talking about the product, service, or company? Typically, the more authoritative the company is, the more it is recommended. #AL #Search #SEO #ChatGPT

In my own practice, I've integrated ChatGPT for research, ideation, and streamline and enhance workflows. Currently, I’m working on five exciting projects: - E-commerce SEO - YouTube Marketing (for two separate channels) - Email Marketing Strategy - Mini Site SEO Each of these projects has benefited from insights provided by ChatGPT and similar tools like Perplexity. ChatGPT is the 28th most popular website - incredible for a young platform! It’s incredible to see how these technologies are shaping our industry. This raises an important question: where is this all headed? We can all sense the trajectory, but the specifics are still unfolding. As a digital marketer, ensuring my clients' visibility in ChatGPT’s responses is becoming increasingly critical. It’s not just about the traffic ChatGPT might drive, but about how these GPT bots perceive and present my clients' businesses. Building a strong, recognisable brand is key to appearing in ChatGPT results. While I am already seeing success with my e-commerce project on ChatGPT, there is a new development on the horizon that requires attention from the digital marketers - SearchGPT. Of course it will have its fair share of flaws in the beginning (like the inaccuracies we encounter in ChatGPT sometimes). However, it does have the potential of giving a solid competition to Google. And that's what makes it very exciting for people like me, who are in the business of optimisation for web. Will SearchGPT replace Google? Time will tell. What I know from my experience is that different platform matters. My clients get a lot of business from Google but they also get decent business from other search engines such as Bing, DuckDuckGo, Presearch and Brave. I can't wait to see SearchGPT on this list too! (Though tracking referral source for it might be challenging depending on if they provide links or not.) Have you started thinking about optimising for ChatGPT and similar tools? I'd love to connect and hear your thoughts!

Learning how to make money with ChatGPT is simple, but that doesn’t mean it’s fast or easy. The process can be time-consuming. It potentially involves hours of research and brainstorming to develop the perfect combination of subject and affiliate marketing potential. New users of ChatGPT, or anyone unfamiliar with the finer aspects of content marketing, will want to have a solid grasp of both before they dive in. Our latest blog covers the topic in depth. We explain why and how to use ChatGPT to: Brainstorm ideas. Perform product research. & even generate written content from scratch. Then, we’ll explain how to streamline the process further using RevenueEngine’s free Chrome browser extension. Read it here: https://hubs.ly/Q02JRhC80

Is Google worried about losing search business to ChatGPT? Increasingly I'm using ChatGPT instead of Google to find information, and I guess a lot of others are doing the same. You can ask ChatGPT "What are the best French Restaurants In London", and it comes back with a curated list that it has magically pulled form the web. Ask Google the same question and your results are a link to a load of websites that have published their own lists, everyone from Time Out to TripAdvisor. Which results you trust more is a personal decision. And I guess Google is already losing some search business to ChatGPT. Which raises a few questions: 1. How long before people start to work out how to manipulate ChatGPT into choosing their restaurant over the others to appear in the recommendation? 2. Will we ever see paid ads in ChatGPT results? 3. And, will ChatGPT eventually overtake Google as the number one way to find information? Would be interested in people's thoughts.

If you feel like ChatGPT is the 'new' SEO. Please remember: - Pouring cash in Core Web Vitals didn't rank a site - Tik Tok didn't replace Google - Publishing 1000's articles in 1 hour is digital junk - Redesigns over usability didn't increase conversions - Optimising for voice search killed resources - SEO hacks never built a real brand after all - Chasing search volume over intent led to 0 results Don't worry I've been there in my career. Chasing quick wins because the industry 'said so'. Instead. Do the foundational marketing stuff: 1. Pick your target market 2. Build a website hierarchy for them 3. Create the best user experience 4. Optimise for conversions 5. Create audit loops to keep improving 6. Focus on acquiring customers 7. Retain the customers It’s easy to get sidetracked by shiny objects. "How to rank in ChatGPT - because Google is dead". It's embarrassing. $Billions in revenue is sent to brands from Google. Let other brands run down rabbit holes. I prefer to focus on what moves the needle. #SEO | #Shopify

Does ChatGPT recommend your business? Last week, for the first time a client, Cheryl Petteruti told me that a new customer said they found her on ChatGPT 😳. Anyone optimizing content for AI yet? The thing I love about SEO is that even if in the future, nobody used Google 🤯, the work we do for SEO will be ingested by any new platform. Whether it's Google, ChatGPT, Bing, Gemini or the new thing that hasn't been invented yet, they're gonna wanna highlight the best businesses. SEO for a local business is about showing you're qualified, reputable and trustworthy. If Google didn't highlight the best businesses in search results, people would go somewhere else to search. I've learnt that if you deliver a clear message on your website about what makes you special, then give the world signals that you are who you say you are on your website -- it will pay dividends for years to come 🚀 #seo #localseo #chatgpt

Internet search: the quality of ChatGPT beats Google hands-down. And how this matters for Startups. Whenever I speak with prospects, one of my first questions is always: "How did you find us?" Until today, the answer has consistently been “Google.” While that might sound great, it’s always been a bit concerning for me. Why? Because for a company like ours—offering Desktop as a Service for Architecture, Engineering, and Construction firms to run their high-performance BIM and CAD software—search engine optimization (SEO) or advertising (SEA) hasn’t been straightforward. After five years of effort, we’ve struggled to find the perfect mix of keywords that are relevant, have enough volume, and are within our reach. It’s a tough balance, especially for a niche service like ours. But today, I heard something completely different. A prospect told me they found us via… ChatGPT. This might sound trivial, but for me, it’s a game-changer. Here’s why: We haven’t spent a dime on ChatGPT advertising. We just pay $20/month to use the platform’s upgraded mode. It levels the playing field for startups. Unlike Google, where established players often dominate through sheer content volume and budget, ChatGPT rewards good, relevant content. In this case, the prospect used ChatGPT to solve a pressing issue: they needed a way to set up their infrastructure for high-performance CAD and BIM software - in Vietnam. ChatGPT not only identified our company but helped them realize we’re the only company on the planet offering exactly what they need. That’s something Google never did for him. As more people shift from Google to ChatGPT for answers, the implications are huge. For startups like ours, it means good content matters more than ever. And for users, it means better answers and solutions to their problems. For this prospect, ChatGPT turned what could have been a dream-derailing problem into a solved challenge—and it brought them straight to us. What about you? Have you noticed this shift in how people search for answers?

How ChatGPT could become a disaster for your rankings. 😓 Google introduced the following updates in March. 1️⃣ A core update and 2️⃣ An anti-spam algorithm update Two changes — one goal, to combat spam and improve user experience. Here's what you need to know: •Don't abuse 'dropped' domain names and site reputation. Buying a domain with a history and repurposing it with low-quality content is a no-no. At the same time, adding unrelated sponsored, advertising or affiliate pages is also a bad idea. •Don't create tons of useless content. This includes automatically generated content, regardless of the method. Pete Reynolds shared a case on Twitter demonstrating that the creation of just eight ChatGPT articles could already lead to a ban. His website got hit by a manual Google action for using 500-word, basic ChatGPT articles without any images. Don't rely on ChatGPT only. Give your content the human touch it deserves. #SEO #algorithm #google #digitalmarketing #chatgpt

How do you get ChatGPT to recommend your product? (thousands of new signups at Ahrefs self-attribute to ChatGPT) Well... Given that we didn't do anything DELIBERATE in order to consistenly show up in ChatGPT for relevant "prompts" - I think I know what did it for us. And it's very similar to how SEO works. If you want to rank #1 on Google, you (generally) need a lot of reputable websites to link to you. Well... If you want to show up in ChatGPT, there should be a lot of content on reputable websites, which connects your brand to whatever problems your brand is solving. That's about it, really. 😉

ChatGPT was too good to be true for business owners - but now they're getting punished. 📉 Google is now punishing business owners who are “scaled content abusers”. These were people who heard “Wait, so I can slash my marketing budget and just let ChatGPT do the work? 🤑” . So, they populated their website full of half-baked AI generated 💩 content. It all seemed so simple… No more paying for “expensive SEO content writers”. Instead, they could blast 🚀their way up the SERPs (Google rankings) for essentially nothing. Except, now they've got bite marks on their 🍑… and have to pay a professional to fix the 💩 show that their website is in now. The algos are catching up on every platform now. Email providers, social media companies, ad platforms. They don't want their users bombarded with low quality content either. It's only a matter of time before they shadow ban profiles. Penalise reach. Restrict and accounts. (Tbh, I'm convinced it's happening already) I get it. I have a bias. 👀 But, why waste the most valuable commodity any business has these days? Attention is everything - don't waste it by taking shortcuts.
