If all rebate reconciliation work is funneled to the last few weeks of a season, data inaccuracies snowball. On top of that, agribusinesses are losing valuable opportunities to use in-season data to make more informed decisions. And without those insights, they can’t pull in-season levers, build a long-term strategy, or improve profits. They’re just stuck repeating the same old short-term data mistakes, season after season, without ever figuring out the root cause. Here's how you fix that: https://lnkd.in/gUu_8KN6

Data never lies. Unfortunately thats bs. I’ve worked for billion dollar enterprises where the data wasn’t trust worthy. It was inaccurate. I would spend 25% of my time collecting data and another 25% validating it. Because I knew that when the data went into a President’s Deck, the first question on their minds would be, “is this data correct?” “Yes, the data is correct and validated,” I always replied. If it wasn’t, why would I share it? (I thought) It’s when the data isn’t lining up that creates wtf moments. Like wtf do I do now? Without data you’re blind to what’s happening in the business. For Example: At another company I worked for, an employee knew the data was garbage and easy to manipulate. He stole 150k worth of products over 5 years. In the end he got caught because we increased data and inventory accuracy. Guess what his punishment was?

Are you measuring data or gaining insight from your data? There's a difference. Measuring data is easy: - Setting KPIs - Gathering data - Analyzing it But it doesn't always lead to useful insights. Insight is harder: - Asking why - Digging deeper - Finding the root cause Now take that to your financials. Here's an example....which is overly simplistic, but you get the idea. Measuring data: "We had a surge in sales last month." Insight: "The sales surge was due to a new marketing campaign we launched." Insight allows you to understand why things are happening, so you can make informed decisions. So, next time you're analyzing your financial metrics, ask yourself: Am I measuring or gaining insight? Or an even tougher question....are you looking at your financial data?????? #ecommerce #ecommercetips #dtcbrands #cfo #dtcwealth

Succinct article for Time Series Analysis Questions like 'WHY CAN'T WE JUST COMPARE ORIGINAL DATA FROM THE SAME PERIOD IN EACH YEAR?' which never even came to my mind but are important. I assumed that we need to account for account for seasonality by observing the data patterns in the model, but why can't we simply compare same period last year, is explained well https://lnkd.in/gxgkF-Zi

It's important when you're making gold-level data tables to make sure that your data model ONLY solves specific questions and not broad swathes of questions. If you don't, your end users will suffer tremendously as they try to figure out how to answer basic questions like "How many sales did we have?" last month. My team screwed up tremendously last year when I asked for "Sales post returns" and received a table that had sales, cancellations, returns, shipping, all of this junk that we didn't need and didn't ask for but had to account for in order to obtain the correct sales number. We ended up building 30 pages of analysis around incorrect data as a result. Instead, deliver super specific tables highly tailored to your customers' specific request in order to keep them happy, keep their analysis accurate, and keep their decision making grounded in reality. #dataengineering #data #datamodeling

"Hi data analysts, today I'll explain GROUP BY and ORDER BY in simpler terms." GROUP BY: ➡ Grouping Similar Items: GROUP BY gathers together things that are alike, such as putting all the red toys in one place or sorting fruits by their types. ➡ Tracking Sales Trends: In stores, GROUP BY helps see what's selling by counting how many different kinds of products were bought in each category, like tallying up different types of fruits or snacks sold. ➡ Making Organized Lists: It's like making neat lists of similar things, which helps businesses know what they have and what people like. ORDER BY: ➡ Sorting Priorities: ORDER BY is like arranging tasks based on their importance, making sure you do the most urgent ones first, such as finishing tomorrow's homework before working on assignments due next week. ➡ Organizing Money Matters: It helps tidy up financial stuff, like putting bills in order by their due dates or spotting the biggest expenses. ➡ Improving Search Results: On websites or apps, ORDER BY makes it easy to find things by showing them in a logical order, like putting the newest items at the top when you're shopping online. "You can also share your point of view in the comments."
