Consent compliance on mobile apps is often overlooked compared to websites, but that may change after Tilting Point was fined for violating CCPA last month. Learn how Privado automates app SDK audits and enables continuous 3rd party SDK governance. On June 18th, the California Attorney General announced Tilting Point was fined because its popular mobile app game, “SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off”, collected and shared children’s personal data without parental consent due to Tilting Point’s inadvertent misconfiguration of 3rd party SDKs. By continuously scanning an app's code, Privado can automatically ➡ Monitor consent banner functionality ➡ Identify each personal data element shared with which SDKs ➡ Implement safeguards to prevent non-compliant data sharing with third parties Read the blog to learn more about Privado's capabilities to proactively prevent non-compliant data sharing from apps to 3rd parties like Meta and AppsFlyer. https://lnkd.in/gD-54FzA

“This app sold user data” Have you seen those videos? It’s quite trendy these days. (Unfortunately) “This app is stealing your data!” How much data is collected is concerning for users. And for app developers? How to collect data & how to keep it safe. There's controversy around how much user data apps should collect. Some argue for minimal data collection to prioritise privacy, while others believe more data leads to better user experiences through personalisation. My take? Collect data that you can keep safe. Data is gold. Treat it like that. Comment “yes” if you agree. #appdeveloper #appdevelopment #founder

86% of Americans are more concerned about their privacy and data security than the state of the current US economy, according to Forbes. The growing consumer data security awareness is backed by serious legislation, including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), and the US Congress’ bill to ban TikTok. When consumers consider who to trust, a brand that “respects and protects customers' data, privacy, and security” was ranked the most critical factor, according to Marketing Charts, above “Is it a good value for the price?” In short, commitment to data security and transparency is fundamental to attracting and retaining customers. The team at Promon is spearheading this agenda in the mobile application space, and you can read their complete perspective below:

"Did you know that mobile apps can also use mechanisms similar to cookies to store and manage data? While they might not always be called 'cookies,' mobile apps utilize methods like HTTP cookies, local storage, device identifiers, and third-party SDKs for tracking, personalization, and session management. Just like on websites, these techniques help apps provide a better user experience and deliver personalized content or ads. However, it's essential to be aware of how your data is being used and to review your app settings for privacy preferences." Whether you clear cookies daily depends on your privacy, security, and convenience preferences. While it protects privacy, it can inconvenience by removing saved data. Do you have the habit of clearing your browser histories and cookies ?
