The growing consumer data security awareness is backed by serious legislation, including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), and the US Congress’ bill to ban TikTok. When consumers consider who to trust, a brand that “respects and protects customers' data, privacy, and security” was ranked the most critical factor, according to Marketing Charts, above “Is it a good value for the price?” In short, commitment to data security and transparency is fundamental to attracting and retaining customers.
