THE BIG 2025 SWITCH-OFF Openreach has announced it will be switching off its PSTN and ISDN networks in 2025 in favour of IP voice services, with a gradual phase-out of the older systems. At this point, Openreach will cease taking ISDN orders, and all businesses will be forced to find other IP-based options for their business telephony systems. Starting September 2023, the UK will no longer support installations or additions to ISDN or PSTN services. The Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) are traditional telecommunication systems, with PSTN being the primary analogue voice communication network and ISDN allowing digital transmission of voice, video, and other services. However, these systems are now outdated, with a 30% decline in ISDN use over the past five years and 25% of UK businesses unaware of this phase-out. The shift to IP-based services like SIP and VoIP, which offer more flexibility and cost-effectiveness, is crucial for businesses to adapt to modern telecom needs. This transition is part of the broader move to cloud-based systems, necessitating robust internet connections to support enhanced features and reliability. ISL provides comprehensive management of broadband, mobile, and internet connections, aiding businesses in this transition. I have been watching this with interest, and am not surprised that switch-off has been pushed back, I am sure there are many companies that are happy about this too! 🚀 In 2017, BT Group announced the switch-off of PSTN and ISDN lines by 2025 to transition to fully digital communications. This deadline has now been extended to 2027. The switch-off is driven by the need to move away from obsolete PSTN/ISDN technology, which can no longer meet modern data and internet demands. Maintaining the aging infrastructure is costly and inefficient, while modern IP networks offer superior quality and additional services. The extended deadline addresses the need for more transition time, technological challenges in the IP network rollout, and the impact of COVID-19 on supply chains. For consumers, this means more time to explore VoIP services and upgrade devices. For businesses, it allows for strategic planning and better infrastructure investment. The transition to IP-based networks is inevitable. Use this additional time wisely to ensure a smooth switch. Is your team ready for the digital future? Upskill them with the latest technologies! ☎ 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝘂𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? BT's decision to delay the switch-off of the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) copper network until January 31st, 2027, is a crucial development. 🙄 The delay, widely anticipated in the industry, responds to a lack of public awareness and technical problems with some domestic users. Telecom service providers have had the sole responsibility to inform the public about the changes, leaving many businesses and home users unaware of how to prepare for them. In December 2023, the fibre network rollout was paused because many households that rely on analogue lines for essential services, such as alarm and medical alert systems, found their devices were no longer working. The delay shows a need to balance progress with preparedness and provides time to address critical dependencies, especially for over 2 million telecare device users, ensuring alternative solutions are ready. However, existing analogue and ISDN lines cannot cope with the demands of IP technologies and our increasing reliance on data transmission, video calls, streaming, etc. So, the march towards an all-IP network continues at a pace, with BT Openreach no longer offering upgrades to legacy services on ISDN and analogue lines. For thousands of businesses, preparedness is essential, particularly for those who rely on call recording or alarm systems. 🤔 If your business relies on call recording on old analogue or ISDN lines, are you preparing for the IP switch? ............................................................ *I'm Everton Stuart *I aim to make the inevitable transition to IP-based solutions smooth and cost-effective for telecom resellers and their customers! *Follow me or SAVE for more updates PS: Have questions about the transition to an all-IP network? 🚨 Big Changes Are Coming: Is Your Business Ready for the 2025 Switch? 🚨 By December 2025, the UK is retiring traditional PSTN phone lines, ISDN & ADSL broadband. If your business still depends on these services, the time to act is now. Here’s why this shift matters: 📞 Phones: Landlines will stop working. VoIP is the future, but it requires a stable internet connection. 🌐 Internet: With ADSL being phased out, businesses in areas without fibre coverage could face serious connectivity issues. ⚠️ Systems: Essential tools like alarms, payment terminals, and monitoring systems may need upgrading to stay operational. For SMEs, this transition could mean upfront costs and potential disruption if delayed. But there’s a silver lining: Adopting modern technologies like fibre broadband and VoIP can unlock faster speeds, greater reliability, and even long-term savings. 🔧 What can you do? Start planning now to avoid surprises and ensure your business stays competitive in a rapidly evolving digital world. #BusinessGrowth #DigitalTransformation #VoIP #FibreBroadband #SMEs

46 and not stopping there! No, not my age, but the number of locations in which BT Openreach has stopped selling legacy analogue and ISDN lines and upgrades. 🤔 Are you ready to switch in time for the move to an all-IP network by 2025? Openreach's stop-sell program marks a significant shift in telecommunications infrastructure. It's crucial for businesses to recognise the implications of this transition, especially if they are still using old call recording systems relying on analogue and ISDN technology. Here's why the change is imperative: *Openreach is notifying communication providers about ceasing copper-based products/services in 920 exchanges, covering approximately 8.5 million premises. *Openreach's stop-sell program is a proactive initiative to encourage the adoption of digital services over full-fibre connections. *46 new exchange locations, covering 344,931 premises, have been added to the program. *Openreach's focus on ultrafast full fibre network deployment necessitates the phasing out of old technologies. *The move away from analogue and ISDN technology allows for a more streamlined approach, aligning with the pace of technological advancements. 🤔 Older call recording systems using analogue and ISDN technology are becoming obsolete. Replacement parts are no longer being manufactured, making the maintenance of these systems increasingly challenging. 🤔 If your business relies on an old call recording system, you should urgently consider upgrading to IP to avoid disruptions in your vital communications. We can help with the transition, no matter what type of call recording system or phone system you have! ..............
