How the Wine Industry Can Win Over Gen Z? A Gen Z Perspective. Part 1. Over the next few days I'll explore why traditional approaches have fallen short and how new strategies can help the wine industry engage with our generation! 😁 Despite common beliefs, the real issue isn’t that Gen Z isn’t interested in wine—it’s that the industry has failed to connect with us. The Challenge? a decline in wine consumption among young people. Recent data from the European Commission reveals a concerning trend in wine consumption among younger generations: - 15% decrease in France - 22% decrease in Germany - 34% decrease in Portugal These statistics highlight a significant challenge for the wine industry, which has responded with various strategies like diverse wine styles, innovative packaging, social media, sell us cheap wine and increased sustainability efforts. However, these efforts haven’t resonated with Gen Z as expected. What is happening? The Real Issue? Disconnect and Outdated Approaches 1. Disconnection: I believe it's the strong disconnection of the Industry and lack of understanding of our generation. We have been given zero context for why the world’s greatest wines are desirable. Why should we buy wine, what's special on it? I hear super technical, glamorous terms that when you ask what they mean, they make it more complex. While the industry has attempted to innovate with colorful labels and cheap wines, these strategies miss the mark. Instead of trying to sell us low-quality products, the industry should recognize that Gen Z is willing to invest in quality if we understand and connect with the product. Stay tuned for Part 2, where I’ll dive into how better communication can make a difference! ☝🏻😁 Hector Enriquez Wine Tasting Journal App #Wine #Innovation #WineTasting #Startup #WineIndustry #GenZ #WineTech

🌍 Global wine consumption is down, so why build a wine brand now? Where the wine industry sees challenges, we see opportunities. It’s a kinda mad time for wine. Traditional wine markets are stagnating, with demand for low-quality bulk wines and exclusive fine labels contracting as much as 50%. So you might wonder why we're opening our doors to investors at such a strange time? Fair question. Although the dusty vintages and supermarket plonk are in decline, more premium offerings are growing 150%+* YOY as customers look for something new. *Mintel Market Data. Customers are after proper authenticity and a brand they can connect to. That’s where we come in. ————— Want to join us on our journey as we scale New Theory?
