A couple things to think about as you start the work week… 1.) Don’t make a decision today that can wait until tomorrow. Everything can seem like an emergency when they are presented to you as such, but oftentimes they aren’t. Empower and demand that your people solve organizational problems by forming teams within the team to get it done. The expectation should be effective solutions are presented with strong recommendations for you to consider with enough time to consider them. 2.) Don’t take a “No” from someone who does not have the authority to tell you “Yes.” The first person you talk to is simply that - the first person you talked to. It is usually nothing more than that unless you leave it at that, but don’t. The next time someone tells you something can’t be done, ask yourself the following: - If it is done, does it make their job tougher? - If it is done, do they get any credit? - If it is done, would it highlight gaps that should have been filled previously? Potentially by them? These questions and the answers they give you may provide insights as to why they are telling you “No.” In any case - don’t stop there. Find another way. Two ways to deal with obstacles: 1.) Go through them and accept the cost. 2.) Go around them.

Sometimes, our carefully planned week takes an unexpected turn, and that's perfectly fine! This week kicked off with a cold, leaving me under the weather and a bit off balance. However, it steered me towards a different direction, enabling me to shift my focus towards what I truly enjoy – building relationships. Although you may not want to talk to me this week as my voice resembles a frogs 🤷♂️ Throw in my two sons birthdays and its been quite the week, and only Wednesday! As I stepped into the office on Monday morning, I felt a surge of motivation pulsating through me. Reflecting on past experiences, I realized that each new week brings fresh opportunities for growth and achievement. Setting clear goals and embracing challenges has been my recipe for success. With enthusiasm fueling my actions, I embarked on the week ahead, ready to conquer new heights in my career journey. Throughout the week, I reminded myself of some key tips to maintain productivity: Prioritize tasks: I started each day by identifying the most important tasks and tackling them first. Take breaks: I made sure to schedule short breaks throughout the day to rest and recharge, keeping my energy levels high. Stay organized: I kept my workspace tidy and organized, making it easier to focus and stay on track. Seek feedback: I proactively sought feedback from colleagues and supervisors, constantly striving to improve and grow. By following these tips, I was able to maintain high levels of productivity and make significant progress towards my goals. Three thoughts from the week so far: Don’t take feedback for granted. Celebrate your successes ⭐An introductory meeting prompted a comment that ‘Faye really knows her stuff.’  ⭐I knew absolutely nothing about that topic six years ago, but I do now. Progress!  ⭐Every Monday, I ask my team to celebrate a success from the prior week.  ⭐It’s good to reflect on mine, too. The world of ‘Work’ is pretty interesting, right now ⭐This is coming through in conversations with friends but also an excellent book I'm reading - The Future-Proof Career - Strategies for Thriving at Every Stage by Isabel Berwick ⭐It is a joy to read, like chatting over coffee with a wise friend. Think intergenerational challenges, the impact of AI, the WFH vs office debate, and purpose. ⭐I’ve finished part 1 (Employee) and will report back on part 2 (Manager). Brilliant so far. Never underestimate the value of your network ⭐ I’ve relied on the support of several connections this week and I’m reminded that there is value in both strong and weak ties.  ⭐ If you strive to connect as people first (business second), you can often pick up where you left off, regardless of the time passed.  ⭐A reminder to always invest in new and existing relationships and be as helpful and generous as you can.  What successes can you celebrate? Whose Monday are you leading today? Are you going to begin your work week with your own intention, purpose, and goals? Or are you going to let unhealthy comparisons derail you and cause you to lose sight of your values? In recovery communities, a phrase that is uttered often is, “Keep your side of the street clean.” This means to focus on the things in your control and responsibility, and let others be responsible for their things. Not that we shouldn’t be serving others (because we should), but life is more manageable when we don’t get distracted by whatever others are doing and instead focus on what we can control. It’s the beginning of a new week —are you going to run your own race? CTA: What will it look like for you to stay focused on your own race and not compare yourself to others today? Once you are centered and aligned with your values, how then might you serve others today?
