For the longest time, I couldn’t figure out why I felt like I wasn’t measuring up as an employee. I was giving it my all—day in and day out—but something always felt... off. Then I started at my current company, and for the first time, I looked forward to Monday mornings. What changed? I finally had someone who didn’t just hand me tasks, but genuinely encouraged me, motivated me, and challenged me to grow. Suddenly, it wasn’t just about doing a job; it was about becoming a better version of myself each week. Here’s the thing: sometimes it’s not you. Not every place is your place. If you’re feeling drained or stuck, it could be the environment holding you back. Maybe you’re in a space that doesn’t inspire, value, or support you. Take the leap to find that place where you’re appreciated and empowered. The right people and the right fit are out there, waiting to help you thrive. ✨ #WorkCulture #FindYourPlace #GrowthMindset

It’s been four months since I took the leap into my new role, and the journey has been nothing short of transformative (cue the violins 🎻). In this brief yet impactful time, I’ve gained not just professional growth but also a newfound sense of personal freedom. That workplace anxiety and sense of dread every Monday…a thing of the past.😬 The flexibility, the refreshing absence of micromanagement, and the unspoken trust that “It will get done” (it always does get done) have worked wonders for my productivity. Sure, figuring out the business's ins and outs has been a bit of a speed bump, but it’s all part of the adventure, right?🤪 What’s truly remarkable, though, is how this flexibility has strengthened my bond with my family. Sneaking out to watch my daughter’s netball game—even if it’s just for a quick cameo—has made all the difference. It really does support the old adage that “showing up” is 90% of the battle. These small, seemingly insignificant moments might appear trivial to some, but they’re absolutely priceless to me and make for a balanced, fulfilling life. I value that above all else. So, I’m curious—have any of you experienced something similar lately? How has flexibility in your work-life impacted your productivity and personal connections? #WorkLifeBalance #Flexibility #FamilyTime #Traxtion #Productivity #CareerGrowth

Husband: Are you working on a company holiday and on Black Friday? Me: Yes and I’ll be right back. Going to pjs coffee for a quick meeting with my colleague in Paris. Just keep playing your music. Husband: You are a workaholic. Me: I have a project and I want to finish it in November. No one said I had to do it. I wanted to do it. It’s very important to know who you are. It makes navigating work, life, and relationships so much easier. I do seek balance, but I truly enjoy doing a job well. I know my strengths and weaknesses and work to balance them. 2024 is my pivot year. I believe that I am doing will help set up the rest of this journey. I felt I was getting a little too removed from being immersed in technology. Sounds weird because our entire lives rely on technology. Some days I love Gates and Jobs and other days I curse them. I pivoted this year to purposefully be closer to the edge. Yes I do some production support, yes I write SQL, I schedule jobs and more. I still focus on process improvement and operational excellence. It’s important to me to understand the intricacies of position in order to help people be the best they can be. I am excited to do these projects. I know that I can still get my hands dirty and show up to a leadership meeting and bridge the gap. I will continue to embrace my 🦄 status. #happyholidays #embraceyou #workaholic

Two years into my corporate journey, and I've encountered the infamous "party culture" more times than I can count. It's everywhere – colleagues encouraging each other to participate, using it as a way to "unwind" from the work week. But here's my take: Is this really the best use of our time and energy? 🤔 Think about it: - We work hard all week, only to spend our precious free time numbing our minds? - We say we want to "forget" our problems, but end up discussing the same issues over drinks. The cycle repeats: Monday arrives, and we're back at square one – often with a hangover and regret. Instead, what if we used our experiences – good and bad – as motivation for growth and change? 💡 My challenge to you: Next time you feel the urge to "escape" through partying, ask yourself: - Why do feel that way? - What can I learn from this situation? - How can I use this experience to improve my life or career? Let's break the cycle and use our time off to truly recharge, learn, and grow. Who's with me? #CorporateCulture #PersonalGrowth #WorkLifeBalance #CareerDevelopment

I’ve got a secret to share 🤭. I have this recurring fantasy of working in a job where I just clock in, do the work, clock out, and live the rest of my life in peace. No evening/weekend emails. No brainstorming in the shower. No lingering deadlines. No waking up at 2:00 AM with a new idea that simply MUST go into the presentation. But here’s the problem...I don’t think I’m built for that life. I’ve tried to imagine myself in one of those “turn off your brain at the door” jobs, and I think I'd always end up doing too much. Stocking shelves? I’d reorganize the entire aisle because the symmetry was off. The truth is, I’m that person who sees “good enough” and instinctively does “a little bit extra.” My brain loves the challenge of creating something better, something smarter, something more impactful. So, as much as I’ve daydreamed about clocking out and leaving work at the office, the reality is that I thrive in positions that ask more of me. Positions that require creativity, strategy, and the ability to connect the dots no one else sees. I’m the person who keeps tinkering, thinking, and reimagining because I genuinely can’t help it. Don’t get me wrong, I have my limits. I’m not out here advocating for hustle culture or 24/7 grind mode (soft life is calling me!!!). But I’ve realized that for me, the most fulfilling work is the kind that keeps me engaged even after hours. Not because I have to, but because I want to. I’ve come to accept that it’s okay. Because the work I do, the messy, creative, strategic, always-thinking work, is exactly what I’m meant to be doing. And I like to think my personal and professional community benefits from it. #Creativity #WorkLifeBalance #StrategicThinking #DoingThatLittleBitExtra #TeamTooMuch

Great insights and questions around employee disengagement from Saurabh Kaura. What can you add? For me, I don't think employees are saying anything to their employer, the risk in the current climate is just too high. If they're really disconnected/disengaged many are 'on the market' otherwise they're holding tight and doing the bare minimum as they quite frankly, don't have the energy or mindset for anything more. I think a big part is people don't feel seen, heard or understood (Nele Vandersmissen you will have insights into this). The ELT (generally) is not experiencing the world and these economic challenges in the same way as their workforce. There is a huge disconnection and lack of understanding in how the current economic challenges are truly putting some people at breaking point (seen in chronic stress, burnout, mental health and suicide rates all increasing). If an individual is worried about keeping a roof over their head or food on the table then they CANNOT be engaged because their stressors are so high it impacts their mental health, wellbeing, focus and productivity. They are simply, surviving. I can not say it enough - if organisations want their business to THRIVE, they must have a workforce that is THRIVING. And this is absolutely in their control - but instead organisations and senior leaders remove wellbeing budget and support tools, which exasperates the problem. As Gartner highlights: ❌ Less than one-quarter (24.3%) of Australian employees consider themselves to be ‘highly’ engaged. Most (73.9%) state they are only ‘somewhat’ engaged. ⭕ Disengaged employees can affect both productivity and workplace culture. ✅ Employers also need to think about the whole person, not just the employee I'm looking forward to delving into this discussion topic at the next event "Engagement Really Matters" hosted by Zensai on 5th September. 🤔 What are the top reasons for you to feel disengaged/ disconnected at work? Let's get into it and discuss more. When I talk to people, a lot of them have started to feel disengaged at work due to a whole set of reasons. I will list them all. If I miss any, feel free to add them in the comments section below. 👇 1️⃣ Basic stuff such as base pay, annual leave, extra benefits - increasing cost of living has got a lot to do with that as well with people saving less in a tough economy out there. 2️⃣ Lack of flexibility at workplaces: Some workplaces which are still living in the past and not offering flexibility to work from anywhere contribute towards the biggest reason for disengagement at workplaces. ✅ Work from anywhere ✅ Work from the office/ beach/ home/ library/ cafe ✅ Flexibility around work routines and timetables 3️⃣ Not feeling aligned with the company's vision: This would often happen due to different reasons: lack of proper training and a possible disconnect between leadership and employees. 4️⃣ A clear lack of communication between the managers and employees. That's what is often the reason for Quiet Quitting in GenZ and millenials. How do you tackle that? ➡ In our organisation, we do Weekly Check-ins every Friday afternoon where you can talk more about your week. And that gets directly fed to your Manager. I just need to answer 4 questions: ✅ What have you achieved this week? ✅ Have you experienced any blockers or issues this week? ✅ Have any colleagues done a great job this week? ✅ How are you feeling this week? Add some context. 5️⃣ People often can't see what sort of career pathways there are for them while moving forward in the same company. And that's a big WHY for people remaining in the same organisation for years. If you don't define personalised career pathways, people would start looking out at something else. 6️⃣ Their achievements and efforts are not recognised and talked about. ❓ My question for organisations would be: "What are you doing to solve these problems in your organisation?" ❓ And my question for individuals out there would be: "How are you tackling these challenges of feeling disengaged?" Paul and I will dive deeper on this topic with our panel Rebecca, Deepti and Thomas on 5th Sep in Sydney. And I also got a chance to meet Rebecca and discuss more around that. I was so excited to see her enthusiasm to discuss on this topic. If you want to talk more, comment below and let's start finding ideas which we can adopt at our workplaces. #everystorymatters #learnwithsaurabh #personaldevelopment

Imagine stepping into next week without: 🅧 Monday morning meetings. 🅧 Sitting in rush hour traffic. 🅧 Frustrating personalities. 🅧 Tasks you’ve outgrown. 🅧 Non-stop messaging. 🅧 Constant meetings. 🅧 Feeling behind. 🅧 Dependent. There’s a story about boiling frogs. It goes like this: If you want to boil a frog, don’t throw it in hot water or it’ll jump out. Instead, drop it in cool water and slowly increase the temperature. It won’t notice it’s being boiled until it’s too late. As high achievers, we wear our “resilience” badge with pride. We are strong. We can handle anything. I hear this line often: “Most people wouldn’t last here, but I can take it.” From people who think they’re superhuman. When really, they’re boiling frogs. All it takes to jump out of that boiling water is remembering what cool water feels like. 3 questions to get you started: What’s the perfect work week for you? Have you coasted away from it? What needs to change now? ✨ There’s no “set it and forget it” with careers. (Unless you’ve stopped growing.) Your goals, desires, and priorities are always expanding when you’re a high achiever… Build a career that supports that. (Unless you want to feel stuck.)
