Sharing an exciting 2025 opportunity from one of our VAS artists. Happy to take questions or connect you if needed! Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gGmMpk2R ***** Artist and imprint convenor Jennifer Fyfe, in collaboration with The Victorian Artists Society, is pleased to announce a call for papers for a two-day symposium exploring the rich and dynamic intersections between art and storytelling. This event aims to bring together scholars, artists, practitioners, and creativity enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds to engage in interdisciplinary dialogue, exchange ideas, and deepen our understanding of the multifaceted relationship between art and storytelling. Art and storytelling have long been intertwined, influencing and inspiring one another across cultures and throughout history. From cave paintings to contemporary digital media, artists have used various mediums and techniques to convey narratives, evoke emotions, challenge perspectives, and provoke thought. Whether through visual arts, literature, film, theatre, music, or other creative forms, storytelling remains a fundamental aspect of human expression and communication. We invite submissions that explore any aspect of the relationship between art and storytelling, including but not limited to: - The role of narrative in visual arts and other creative disciplines - The use of symbolism, metaphor, and allegory in artistic expression - The influence of cultural, social, and historical contexts on storytelling practices - The intersection of traditional and contemporary storytelling techniques - The relationship between audience engagement and narrative interpretation - The impact of technology on storytelling and artistic production - Collaborative storytelling processes and interdisciplinary approaches - The ethics and responsibilities of storytelling in art We welcome proposals for individual papers, panel sessions, workshops, and creative presentations. Submissions should include an abstract (250-300 words) outlining the proposed topic, its relevance to the symposium theme, and any audiovisual or technical requirements. Hello friends, As some you may or may not know, I have been working for a new creative company, Medea, for a while….which has been very mysterious so far...well we are finally presenting our first project! (Which I am producing)💥 and am super excited about. Medea is a brand new creative production company aiming to shine a light on the production, circulation, digestion and impact of information so that people can be empowered to make factually informed choices. Illuminated Lies is a collaborative art work with the public which shares personal stories relating to disinformation and fake news and misinformed beliefs. It consists of series of public, free audio visual art installations and will be presented for the first time as a at Edinburgh Fringe 2024. Stories can be contributed from anyone, anywhere via a short 5-7 min audio recording. If you have a memory, anecdote or experience that illustrates how disinformation and fake news and misinformed beliefs have affected you, your family, community, society or the world then we would love to hear it. We believe that listening to one another's experiences heightens our understanding, empathy and helps us to make more informed decisions. You can contribute to the project via our website: www.illuminatedlies.com And please please share with anyone you think it might be of interest to - it's open to anyone! If you can also find the project on instagram. @illuminatedlies Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. xx Aoife #fakenews #opencall #disinformation #misinformation #edinbrughfringe #publicart
