🚨 I’m thrilled to share an in-depth article on the #Maharashtra #elections, focusing on the role of proxy pages in political landscape. Political parties are increasingly leaning on these pages across platforms like #Meta to sidestep official affiliations, raising transparency concerns as these unaffiliated pages shape voter perceptions without clear accountability. In insightful conversations with industry experts—Zefmo Co-founder and CEO Shudeep Majumdar, and Anup Sharma, a political adviser for the Maharashtra elections—I explored how precise micro-targeting and digital outreach are reshaping electoral campaigns. Shudeep noted a significant surge in digital spending, placing Maharashtra at the forefront of India’s digital campaign landscape, while Anup offered insights into how these proxy pages operate within India’s political system. #MetaAdLibrary data from last week highlights the substantial investments by Maharashtra’s leading political parties, along with an increasing presence of proxy pages. For example, the BJP Maharashtra page led with Rs 8.61 lakh in ad spend, while proxy pages like “Lekha Jokha Maharashtracha” invested Rs 3.6 lakh, contributing to a notable rise in digital ad investments this election season. For exclusive data and deeper insights, check out the full article! Maharashtra Elections: Proxy pages become battlegrounds for political parties.

Indian Elections 2024 <> Digital Marketing Spends 🤑 With the election results right in the corner, the 2024 Indian general elections are expected to witness a significant surge in digital marketing spends by political parties. According to reports, the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) has already spent a substantial amount on promoting the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election slogans, making it the largest spender on Google ads in the country! 🗝 Key Findings: ✅ The CBC spent around $4.65 million on Google advertisements, carrying the BJP’s catchphrases, making it the largest spender on Google ads in the country. ✅ The CBC’s spending is 41% more than the $3.3 million spent by the primary opposition Congress party in almost six years. ✅ The total spending on political Google advertisements has increased significantly, with the total spend amounting to nearly $1.3 billion in the period between November 1, 2023, and March 15, 2024, compared to $11.77 million in the same period before the 2019 general election. ✅ Digital marketing for political parties has grown by 675% since 2012, making it a crucial medium for political campaigns. The 2024 Indian general elections was a digital battleground, with political parties investing heavily in digital marketing to reach their target audience. Dear LinkedIn Fam ♥️ Elections are on the way and this is an article about the Indian Elections '24 & Digi-Campaigns. Just spend 2-3 mins in proofreading this article. I hope this will be more insightful and interesting. #elections2024 #voteforchange #indianelections 👉The internet has made our lives easier, but we did not expect the digital revolution that has taken place in our country. India is now a global power and every country is proud of its achievements in various fields. Our nation is gearing up for a huge democratic election, held in seven phases, with around 97 crore voters across the country. 👉In this digital age, digital marketing is very helpful in bringing information to people's attention. As I was scrolling through social media and search engines, I noticed that parties and individual candidates contesting in the Parliamentary elections 2024 have started digital campaigns to reach all audiences. UNRAVELING THE SECRETS 👇 ▪️Parties like BJP and DMK, which have a high chance of winning MP seats, are using Google and Meta Ads to post their new election campaigns and their achievements during their period. ▪️They are also active on social media, posting memes, reels, and posts that explain why people should vote for them. The IT Wing of their respective parties manages this work and hires digital marketers to assist their campaigns by giving various taglines and running sponsored ads. ▪️They focus on first-time voters by understanding their algorithms and sending regular updates to position their party name, symbol, and candidate's name in the minds of the people. ▪️One individual candidate, Deepan, who is contesting for the Namakkal constituency, has 90k followers on Instagram and has digitally campaigned himself about what he would do if elected as the MP. ▪️This digital campaign was not very effective in the past, but it shows the impact of digital marketing on the election. 👉If you are a voter in Tamil Nadu, you may have noticed the digital marketing impact on the election. Every post gives you information about what they did and what they did not do. So, it's important to think wisely and vote for the betterment of ourselves and our country. Let us make this election 100% successful.

| 2024 General Elections in India and the growing challenge of information fragmentation to political communication | Political communication is a strategy to align party/coalition priorities with those of the general citizens by developing robust and engaging channels. Using new and traditional media outlets, speeches, and manifestos are many ways of establishing a political organisation's intended goals if elected to govern. However, with growing supplies of information from diverse sources, political parties are operating in a fragmented information ecosystem. Information fragmentation has been a key theme among experts amid the rise of digital platforms, including Facebook and YouTube. It refers to the high number of information suppliers in the market whose participation leads to less regulation of the information consumers receive. Unlike traditional media outlets such as TV and press, digital platforms (new media) have facilitated direct engagement between sources and audiences, making them key stakeholders in the information landscape. Although platforms like Facebook and YouTube have made the information market competitive and faster, it also risks spreading disinformation and misinformation. They have been designed to keep audience engagement intact and customise information according to audience preferences. It is possible to create information networks with the potential to spread biased or inaccurate content, thus making it difficult for the public to have a balanced political judgment. According to the Global Risk Report of 2024 by the World Economic Forum, India is prone to the highest risk of disinformation and misinformation. At a time when India witnessed a cutthroat election campaign spanning seven phases for over three months, the report becomes a relevant piece of data reflecting on the possible challenge to political communication in the country. Increasingly, politicians have participated in digital platforms and collaborated with influencers to put their message across a range of new audiences. However, they were also seen spreading misinformation, be it the seat share predictions or manifesto promises. A good example is the claims made by the rival blocs and their ecosystem of supporters on social media regarding the expected number of seats. The outcome of the 2024 General Elections, and the extent to which it reflects the challenges of transparent and effective political communication, remains uncertain. However, what is clear is that the election was not without its obstacles. The growing risk of disinformation and the evolving information landscape necessitated political engagement strategies that adapted to these new conditions. The significance of this analysis lies in its potential to shed light on these strategies and their impact on the election outcome. Do share your thoughts on what was relevant during the elections.

2024 Loksabha Elections: A Tale of Two Campaign Strategies 🗳️ As the 2024 Loksabha elections unfolded, the digital marketing strategies of India's major political parties, BJP and Congress, were under the spotlight. Both parties deployed extensive campaigns to engage voters, each with strengths and shortcomings. BJP's Digital Engagement: Strengths and Weaknesses 🚀 The BJP showcased its digital marketing prowess, leveraging social media to connect with a wide audience. Their use of targeted ads, real-time updates, and engaging content maintained a robust online presence. The party's ability to use data analytics to tailor messaging was commendable, ensuring relevance and impact. However, the BJP's campaign had shortcomings. Critics pointed out that their messaging sometimes relied heavily on polarizing rhetoric, alienating some sections. While nationalistic themes resonated with many, they were accused of sidelining pressing local issues. The lack of engagement with younger, more progressive voters was another area needing improvement. Congress's Campaign: Hits and Misses 💼 Congress revitalized its digital campaign, focusing on young voters and issues like employment, education, and social justice. Their use of storytelling and personal narratives humanized their candidates, creating a more relatable image. Congress also effectively used influencer collaborations and grassroots mobilization to expand reach. Despite improvements, Congress's campaign had flaws. Inconsistent messaging sometimes diluted their overall narrative. While addressing various issues, the lack of a cohesive central theme made sustaining voter engagement challenging. Additionally, their response to BJP's aggressive campaigns was often slow, making it difficult to counteract the ruling party's momentum. Lessons Learned and Moving Forward 📚 The 2024 Loksabha elections highlighted the evolving landscape of political marketing in India. Both BJP and Congress demonstrated the importance of digital engagement with varying success. The BJP's data-driven approach and extensive online presence were effective, but inclusivity needs addressing. Congress showed promise with a focus on youth and social issues but must work on delivering a more unified and timely campaign. Future political campaigns will continue to be shaped by digital strategies. Parties must balance broad appeal with local concerns, ensuring messages are inclusive and impactful. The 2024 elections provided valuable insights into what works and what needs improvement, paving the way for more sophisticated and voter-centric campaigns in the future 🌟 #Election2024 #PoliticalMarketing #BJP #Congress #DigitalStrategy #IndiaVotes #Democracy
