Scrum is NOT simple. The 2020 Scrum Guide states that Scrum is Simple. I can't entirely agree and that statement needs to change. Read the post for more. #scrum #scrummaster #productowner https://lnkd.in/gNG_prZK
If it were simple versus easy, people would understand the problem and understand WHAT they need to do; but they may find it hard to do HOW to do it. Thus simplicity is WHAT and ease is HOW. But empirically looking in the market there is more a widespread misunderstanding is on WHAT to do, and that is because it is NOT simple. On top of that, the HOW is also hard.
Consider that with practice come fluency... Acquiring that fluency is what isn't simple. Taking the steps necessary to effect that fluency is what isn't simple. Otherwise, everyone could be a PST, or CST. Just sayin', my friend.
Scrum itself is simple. People make things complex... People who use something without properly understanding how to use it are sometimes dangerous...
This resonates with my experience too. Brett Maytom While Scrum's core framework may seem straightforward, the real challenge lies in mastering its nuances and fostering the right cultural environment. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the specific challenges organizations face in different phases how they can be tackled effectively
I was thinking about this the other day, Brett. Two similar words often confused are "simple" and "easy." Both can mean "uncomplicated", but only one (easy) is "low-effort."
A long time ago, when I did some Scrum coaching, I used to compare the scrum process with playing soccer. It's not because you are familiar with the rules of the game, that you are a good soccer team. The tactics and strategies to become a truly great team have nothing to do with the rules. Building exceptional software each sprint is very hard, but has little relationship with Scrum.

10moEven with all the comments talking about simple versus easy, I am not convinced. I am still open to discussion and hearing your views. I don't think it is simple; in fact, I think it is very ambiguous and complex. There are "it depends" situations, and understanding those is not simple either. On top of that getting it to work is definitely not easy. Let's take Daily Scrum, it's for the developers by the developers and "The Developers can select whatever structure and techniques they want, as long as their Daily Scrum focuses on progress toward the Sprint Goal and produces an actionable plan for the next day of work. This creates focus and improves self-management." if it were that simple, why don't people understand it in terms of what conversations to have, lets not talk about mastering it, dealing with people and psychological safety.
