During my 11 months at Alaska Airlines as a ramp agent, I started the job knowing very little about airplanes beyond takeoff and landing. I've come to appreciate that what seemed like a daunting job is manageable with the right mindset. Humor, teamwork, and creativity—while always prioritizing safety—have been crucial. Here are three key lessons I've learned: Firstly, first impressions are vital. Building rapport from the outset with fellow ramp agents can make all the difference. A simple smile can foster a welcoming atmosphere that enhances teamwork and camaraderie. Secondly, a strong work ethic is non-negotiable. Maintaining a positive mindset ensures not only personal success but also sets a high standard that benefits the entire team. It's about being reliable and striving for excellence every day. Lastly, maintaining positive relationships is essential. Instead of reacting impulsively in challenging moments, showing grace and gratitude fosters respect and long-term cooperation among colleagues. These lessons have shaped my approach to work and enriched my experience at Alaska Airlines . I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow in such a dynamic environment.

This month marks a significant milestone in my career journey - my 6th anniversary at Delta Air Lines! Adding a decade of experience at AT&T, I can confidently say that I have earned the title of "Professional." I am grateful for the individuals, leaders, and mentors who have been a part of my career journey thus far, especially those who have advocated for me as a sponsor and pulled strings on my behalf. Reflecting on my journey, there are a few pieces of advice I would share with my younger self. Firstly, don't take rejection personally. More often than not, there's nothing behind that closed door. Secondly, surround yourself with positive influences and true friends who support and uplift you. Lastly, remember that your time and energy are precious - don't waste them on things that don't add value. Above all, it's essential to know your worth. Even when your hard work and contributions go unrecognized, keep pushing forward, your legacy is not defined by others. Remember, self-awareness is key. Love yourself and embrace your emotional intelligence as a superpower. As always, it's never too late to make a change - "age enriches experience, it doesn't limit potential".
